Wow...this has taken a turn for the worse...ask for feedback and get a suggestion to make money or shut down (yeah, i intentionally misquoted you)...This site and the fun the guys have is for the FUN of the RC hobby...sure there are more No-Nonsense forums...yeah the Grid is generally more race related, but even the Grid gets way off topic (see RC Pics, Paint Talk, Midwest Racing, etc, etc....)...the idea of the forum is a convenient way for people to stay in touch and share ideas and info...a chat room. If you find the mindless babble, swearing, and childish antics (my forte...look that up), then ChiTown RC is just not for you...don't visit...but to suggest shutting it down because it does meet with your standards...BS !!!
I don't eat at Indian restaraunts because the food doesn't appeal to me...does that mean they should all be closed? NO, it means I choose to eat elsewhere. If chitown rc isn't you'll favorite flavor of forum....simply stay away. And stop taking the toy car hobby/forum world so seriously. Who sahhhh ttt - inside joke....and if you don't get it....too damn bad...hang around for 2-3 years and maybe you would. done.

I do!??!?!? I hardly comment on the grid at all unless its in the novarossi thread or the il/oh/in thread! Well sorry ya feel im ruining the grid... Oh well

hmm.. I pointed out a year ago about how this place was turning to crap and was torn a new one for it.. Lost my mods powers and got reamed in PM's. I said back then that the board was useles.. Every post was 1 serious question.. followed by 10 guys with inside jokes kicking each other in the balls. Every basher was reamed for buying a non race car or a begginer buggy or whatever non hardcore race car. Its been like this for a long time..
Its changed since then though because the guys that spent hours posting 100 times a day with inside jokes and useless crap have new hobbies so its just all the youngins being silly. Me.. I still do the same bashing around just stick to the yard and ocasional quiet parking lot or take my RC18t to work and run it in the parking garage. Seems when any group gets too big into racing the fun of the hobby dissapears.

Maybe it's just my perception of recent times, but some newer members ask questions without searching (researching) the forums for previous posts that could answer the questions. When old topics get re-hashed, the guys who used to be helpful, get weary of telling the basics over and over. If you are new, read, read, and then read more to see if your questions on break-in, or glow plugs, or fuel %, have been reviewed in old posts. Archived data is valuable...I feel that some of the most valuable resources on the board have gotten away from answering questions because the info is already out there...

Archived data is valuable...I feel that some of the most valuable resources on the board have gotten away from answering questions because the info is already out there... i agree totally...but im not new to the site but 90% of my questions arent answered in searches. sometimes i like to ask you guys questions to see what you've done or what you think works best. reading through past threads can get pretty time consuming and boring. sometimes its just quicker to throw down a "quick question" thread. Its also nicer (when there isnt smarta$$ remarks) to talk to some1. case in point, i had some question bout my eight buggy the other day and some1 replied with really useful tips and even threw down a link that helped me even more. so, how hard is it, REALLY, to trpe a one-liner saying, "check this thread", or, "check this link out"....does it really make you that, "weary"? just my .02

^^You know what's good too if you just got a quick little Q that you don't think is really "thread worthy" is the "Offical Yack-Away Thread"..It's somewhere in the "Off Topic Section".

thats my point...
i dunno, i just seems like if ur question is'nt worthy of some1's time, you get chastized. if ur question seems dumb, you get flamed. so its just not a very..."friendly"???...atmosphere for a newcomer. im not sure if im gettin what you mean but if ur sayin to post stuff like that up in the yack away....whats so hard bout movin it, or sayin...yo, post that over here next time?

im a new person to the site well sort of. i enjoy reading the racing info and reading about the bashing. i would do both more if my job didnt consume my life. i live on forums when im not at work and when im at work because its the closest thing to rc i have. i enjoy the random bickering but calling people out doesnt help the community grow it sends people away. we need to get more people out there mentioning the site to other people.keep all the off topic posts in the offtopic section. get more event info on the site for racing and anything rc. help out local rc clubs and hobbyshops by posting up there schedules for racing and other events they have going on.
iff this is a run on i know but thats my opinion

Wow Mike said it perfectly, don't be afraid to PM one of them. When I first joined I never PM'd anyone about a question cause they seemed like Jagoffs who kinda kept to they're own little group, they're really not. Now that I've been here a while they're all nice guys who would help you out in a heartbeat. Like Czech I asked him if I could carpool down to edwardsville with him and he was cool with it. I didn't go but that's not the point, he still was willing to help me out.

Archived data is valuable...I feel that some of the most valuable resources on the board have gotten away from answering questions because the info is already out there... The problem with "Searching" for the answer to a question is that with as many times as some questions are asked, and as quickly as some of those threads FLY off-topic, you can search for something and get 3 pages of "possible matches". When that happens, and the first 15-20 posts that you read, looking for an answer, all turn into personal BS, arguments that have nothing to do with the topic at hand, "Pissing contests", etc... you finally decide that just asking may help, only to get shot down, and yelled at for not searching first. This was a HUGE problem back on the Traxxas forums as well. The mods there would lock a thread, and yell at the members to use the "search" feature. Over time, it became 10 pages of locked threads about a question, with mods yelling to "Search". One possible remedy for this, is to create a section for "Helpful tips". In that section, have only one person able to post/edit, so the individual posts do not get littered with BS. When someone asks a "Common question", refer them to the "Tips" area....
I'll keep my God, my freedom, my guns, and my money. You can keep "THE CHANGE."
