Clutch bell maintenance?
#1
A lot has been said about clutch setups and shoe maintenance on this thread.

But what maintenance is needed/recommended for the clutch bell to maintain good "bite" with the shoes? And how often?

I imagine that heat and just the general abuse it goes through would degrade the surface eventually.

btw I use KHZ 6061 shoes w/ Losi 14t cb

de-burr the clutch shoes and wipe out the CB with a rag and denatured alcahol...

If there is metal build up in the CB then it's best to replace it but you can also get creative with the dremel and clean it up.

i keep a sanding drum in my dremel and i scuff new shoes, clutch bells and i clean up used ones the same way. i reuse clutch bells by sanding keeping the sanding drum moving and i can get 5 sets of shoes on it before it needs to be replaced. i always spray out the bell new/used with motor spray and wipe with a clean rag and replace the bearings...
