Consider getting a mugen 5t. More people run them, therefore more setups and help at the track if something were to brake.
Motors are pretty much run what you brung, but technically the restriction is a .28. An OS Vspec will power it fine and it's a .21.
No gas restrictions.

Get the Mugen, you will be much happier. As for an engine, Werks TLB7 or an OS V spec.

Id say definitely go with the O.S. V-spec, very fast, and very easy to tune.

OS 28 is unneeded power and gas consumption for racing.
The 21 has GREAT power all around, one of the longest runtimes out there, and is pretty much everything you will EVER need.

Which sponsored guys? Names. A OS .28 in a truggy is serious overkill. I'd put a .21 in a truggy before that gas pig. Read the reviews in the mags!
The Go Tech 5 port .21 is becoming a very popular truggy motor [GOTR215P] Go Technology .21 5 Port Race Engine (Standard Plug)
as is the .25. [GOTR256P] Go Technology .25 6 Port Race Engine (Standard Plug)
or the .28 [GOTR286P] Go Technology .28 6 Port Race Engine (Standard Plug)
There will also be a Race 3 port soon.
Price to performance ratio, no one compares to the Go Tech line, Hell, forget the price. These things just plain rip! Oh yeah, and I'm getting over 8 mins with my 5 port in my buggy.

I havent seen hyper truggy but i will say this. You get what you pay for. I think a main reason guys on this board may try and sway you towards a more common chassis is for these few simple facts..
1st- If you break a part on a Hyper truggy that you dont have in your pit box i can almost 100% Gar-Ron-Tee that nobody will have one to loan you as its not a common chassis. The hobby shop at the track stocks parts for the more popular models so i think you'd be S.O.L. there too...
2nd- Dialing in a set-up can be a bugger of a time and can drive you to drink! So its much easier to drive what other guys locally drive since they have already done most of the leg work on the set-up for you! Then all it takes is minor tweaks to get the car set up just perfect for your style.
Last but not least....
RESALE!!! Honestley no r/c has any real resale value... You get bent over hardcore when you sell a model for another one. Losses in the 60% and up range are common place and having an oddball only pushes that depreciation higher. No demand= no resale value...
Now these are just simple facts ive learned in the better part of 4 years of racing. Take them or leave them but all i can say is learn from others mistakes and save yourself all the money "we" have lost learning the hard way.
Good luck racing! Its a great hobby! It will consume you! LoL!!!
