Midwest Nitrocross 2008 Points Series
#1
Ladies & Gentlemen,

So here it is, here's the big question. How much do you guys want the awards and plaques that we dished out last year? Recently, our board of directors ( I know, it's cheesy, do you have a better name for a group of grown men discussing toy cars? ) After all of the sponsorships and costs associated with running a series were discussed, it appears as if we have two paths ahead of us for 2008.

1. Charge $6 for first entry, and $3 for additional entries. Of course this is in addition to the standard host track fees for the day. In this pricing plan, there will be no money spent for handout awards at the individual events. Also, there will be no Midwest Nitrocross Titanium Membership plaques produced following this plan. A significant group of people have expressed an opinion that they would rather see the money saved at every event and put towards the cash payout at the end of the year.

2. Charge $8 for first entry, and $4 for additional entries. Again this is in addition to the standard host track fees for the day. In this pricing plan, there will be money set aside for handout awards at the individual events. We will try to supply awards for 1st thru 5th in each class. Also, there WILL be Midwest Nitrocross Titanium Membership plaques produced following this plan. Some people have shown support for these awards, as it shows support for the key group of individuals that go above and beyond and help the series get a fund started early in the year for expenses such as website, banners, fliers, etc. The only downfall to this plan is that slightly less money goes toward the payout at the end of the year.

Following the above pricing plans, there will be Gold and Titanium memberships available. Depending on the pricing plans you vote for:

Gold Memberships will either be $30 or $40. Gold plans are good for ONE(1) class for the year ( pay for five races, get one race free ). If you choose to race additional classes during the year at some point, you will need to pay full price for them at the track every day. This is our no perks membership. Family Gold Memberships are available for either $50 or $70 ( one class each person )

Titanium Memberships will either be $65 or $80. Titanium plans are good for Unlimited classes for the year ( pay for two classes, 5 races each, get the rest for free ). If you choose to race additional classes during the year, you don't have to pay extra ever. In addition, Titanium members will receive our "discount card" good for substantial discounts at participating sponsors. For example, several racetracks will subtract $2 on any day you choose to race, just for presenting your card. And several hobby shops are offering discounts as well only for Titanium card holders. In addition, if the vote goes for the $80 range, you will receive a Titanium Membership plaque at the end of the year recognizing your efforts for the club. Family Titanium Memberships would be available for either $120 or $150 ( unlimited classes for each person )

So to recap, the big question is...do you want to spend $8 for a chance at an event award, or $6 with no event awards. VOTE NOW! And when you're done voting, call or email your racing buddies and tell them not to forget to vote!

Well, here's an update...so far we've had thirteen(13) votes on the topic of $8 entry vs $6 entry. This is about how I expected the vote to go...but I also expected MORE votes by now.

Last year we had 65 individual unique racers in the series...in 2006 it was 58. So for 2008 I expect right around 70. I can't believe that out of 65 racers...only 13 of them have access to these websites and information? So please, if you know somebody that raced the series or if you raced the series and have a buddy that might race it with you next year...please take a few minutes to go to the Midwest Nitrocross website and register so that you can vote.

I would say charge more, give out soem cheap plaque trophys etc to 1-3 in buggy and truggy for the series races and then put whatevers left to more trophies/payout/whatever for the end of the year. Its nice to get trophys for coming out and stuff, but it really isnt a big deal for as many rounds as there are. That way the last round can give out trophies to say the A main guys of that race in addition to some bad ass trophies for the top 5 in each class after its all said and done

Thanks for the input. We try something a little different every year, hoping to not change too many of the things that we get GREAT feedback on...and concentrate more or less on the things we get no feedback or negative feedback. This year being out third year, the sponsors are coming on strong...so anybody that races this year has a great shot at some really nice prizes. Instead of concentrating on paying a huge amount of money to the top 3 guys...we're going to open it up so that the mid-pack guys get a chance at some really good cash too.
