Hey Guys, Newbie just recently got into the hobby and recently joined the site. Bought myself a revo about two months ago, and now Im looking to move up to something better in the the truggy class. Any opinions on which model to go with Muegen, Losi, Kyosho, etc, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, golferdude1971

Hello, I'm new to the hobby my self. How much do you want to spend? Are you looking for a kit or ready to run.

Eddie, Thanks for the info...I have been reading alot of opinions on truggys, from other forums and this one too, and Im thinking of going the Mugen route. Being that my limited experience with rc has been with a revo rtr, would a kit be the right way to go? I kinda cant stand the revo trans, it's too tempermental.
As far as getting a mugen, I'd be willing to get something used, but Im not sure what would be a good deal. I've done tons of research on servos, so I have a good idea about those. For motors, my friends grew up with Sonny, so I might be able to get one of his motors.

Pretty much the Mugen and Kyosho are the top 2, the Mugen seems to be a little more durable and is much cheaper. I do not recommend getting a used one, buy a kit, build it, and you will learn the hobby faster, ask for tips on assembly and life will be good. Mugen used to make a standard version og the 5t, which is what I run except for a few beefed up parts, mainly for ease of maintaince. The OS vspec seems to be the engine of choice at LH and pretty much everywhere else. IF you are gonna race truggy be sure to have a powerful steering servo. Panther C compound BOAs are the tire most run inside and work outside as well, the new Low profile version seems to be even better.

Mugen is way better than kyosho, I wouldnt put the K car in the top two at all. Kyosho costs almost a grand for just the ROLLER. Mugen is easy to drive, pillow balls back out here and there but really dont see them break much, its a great truck. Ive seen plenty of K trucks breaking arms chubs outer hingepins etc etc etc. K truck prolly drives a little better being more responsive but that can get you in trouble easy. Go with the MBX5T

Id definitely say mugen. I had one for about 5 gallons and it was awesome. What do you got in mind for servos?

You said it- TTR to Mugen, hello that was a surprise.
Kyosho won the RC Pro finals and the Nitro Challenge in AZ and of course the
Worlds!
Here is what it comes down to folks, you get what you pay for. Yes Kyosho is more expensive but it last way longer than any buggy. I'm still running my original SP2 with atleast 20 gallons through it. I built this buggy for the 2005 Pro series finals! Sure if changed parts on it but it took a long time for them to wear out.
Rocco, come out and play you bastard!!
Trevor- what up broda!!! You need to move closer to Joliet

That's a good one and very true. But it seems like that Kyosho is holding you back a little bit lately. Either these other guys are getting disproportionately fast, you're getting old, or that Kyosho is holding you back. I'm going with the latter...
