Just a reminder 1pm signup starts. Please use your real name along with your online Alias (for result posting). All trucks will be required to have a # sticker on the truck (provided). All trucks will need to be off the area by 1:30 so we can rearrange the rock area and setup the course (if you think your practicing, your not). No one is allowed to actually walk on the course or move rocks except myself and HT employees (insurance).
IF YOU ARE NOT COMPETING YOUR RADIO MUST BE OFF (GSM radio's exempt)
Please remember this is being held in a hobbyshop during reg hrs, lets make sure they ask us back.

Pretty damn cool guys. Sorry I missed out on it. I was very lucky I went to work since my assistant called off.. would have been really bad if we both called off.
Hopefully the next comp will be on a sunday!
Thanks for the pics!

Im on the Fence... Xbox 360 or WK... Cant have both. WK looks very sturdy. I was talkin to Bjoe about it. ive always had a place in my heart for HPI but i want to make sure im not buying somthin that the axial can own (think savage racer vs. Revo!)

It seemed decent the other day when I saw them running, but the diffs click and apparently this happens on all of them.

Saturday it came down to driver and how the truck is set up. On my WK the clicking Ponch is talking about was the slipper clutch built into the transmission from the factory when I'd get the whels blocked to the point they couldn't spin, the diffs on my truck can't click because I have the Maximizer lockers in place of the HPIA850 internals that date back to the early gear diff RS4's. On Strat's WK I think the JB Weld came apart on one of the diffs or his truck may be one of the older trucks that needed a couple shims between the ring and/or pinion and axle housing. The sound his truck was making was a different pitch click that the slipper makes. The other truck that was clicking was a largley stock appearing TLT and I have no idea what was making the noise on that, could have been the drive belt in the trans that was slipping. I've seen alot of whining about the width of the WK axles and how they don't look scale because of their width, but I think that in combination with the AX10's beadlocks was an advantage over the AX10 and TLT based rigs that ran. IIRC my truck in the same trim as run on Sat and as Rocco saw today should be right around 11" wide at the outer sidewalls. Somethig alse that worked to my favor was that since I bought the truck, I've been trying to find some of the nastiest terrain to run it over (not easy around here BTW) and some of it was alot like the way that the rock on that course was set! I had found good places to practice completely by accident!

WK is a great platform to start with for sure Rocco! I got a deal goin for some WK axles! Oh yeah that'll make 3 crawlers then! Not near as many as Mnster and his bro have though! Get one Rocco, they're a blast :joy:

WK is easier to mod than the axial, the Wk you can use Maxx shafts when you lengthen it and the axial takes major mods and the axial DS pop off way to easy. My WK based truck will "own" a stock axial any day. Heck, My TLT based truck with a brandnew (first time ever driving a crawler) driver beat almost every Axial in the comp. Im not bashing axials but for what you pay out of the box and still have to put into it, the WK is allot better investment if your willing to do it right.

Haha, same boat were in, were either goin with the 360 or maybe a crawler. Idk, Call of duty 4 is badass.

why choose??? if you are already into RC you prolly have enough stuff laying around to build a crawler.... Pick up a WK without electronics for $130 add a Lathe motor and a esc and your radio gear, maybe even go a little farther and move the servo to the axle (free online template or email me for it) and stretch the WB to 12" and you have a very capable crawler for under $200.
And once you have driven a crawler...you wont want to watch anymore you'll want to drive!!!!
