The first event was a success and the owner is talking about improvements/building on. So what would you like to see? What will keep you coming back?
We have to keep things in reason, there is no way we can convince him to convert the entire store but, we might be able to get another 4x10 section.
Also, post up what parts and trucks you would like to see them carry and we will take the list back to him.
Ill start,
track:
more concrete/less rock
more climbs
store:
axial axle sets
axial transmissions
more bodies in-stock
JetDesign chassis'

I'd like to see more climbs with both concrete and rock? And for sure some kinda bridge crossing or something to that effect?
For parts, i'd say Axial hop-up parts-aftermarket parts not just the Axial stuff like RC4WD, CKRC, stuff that TCS sells and RPP would sell, alum axle c's, and also Wheely King hop-up parts too since that's the 2 that seem to be the most common!? Just my $.02
Thanks!

Like BJoe wrote, make it "super" compatible. It'll only bring-in more folks and I'm sure some 2.2ers have a "super" at home. I'd like to see a long (within reason) upward climb and subsequent downward climb (concrete base w/rocks) if a new section is added. :joy::joy::joy:

The concrete was good but it was also rubbing away to dust I feel if we continue to comp on it, it will all rub away to dust eventually with the dig setups. If you sprayed it with a coating to seal it, it would control the erosion better, herculiner would be a good option. Maybe i'm just imagining things. The lower section just needs organization as I said if you used any kind filler it would be great. Maybe pea gravel would work as you could change the course and it would fill the holes. If you had far less rocks and more bare ground it would also help. Or large rocks.
The best way to go would be to have interlocking sections that could be changed rather then a permenent course. I feel a tough rubber foam is the way to go, not only is it light weight, but it is very easy to work with. A few of us could make several sections leave them in our basements and exchange with hobbytowns course sections as the comps and seasons go by. Just a idea although I am a huge fan of the concrete work that was done.
Bridge needs beefing, my c-10 nearly folded it in half.
The course really needs some long super steep hills. My scale trucks were able to walk up every hill except the corner near the bridge. I'd like to see a section of hill that looks like a rounded off flight of stairs.
As far as stock:
2.2 tires
Drive shafts:p:
Basic crawler electronics, Brushless motors, ESC's, 2/3a packs and lathe motors.
Axial locker upgrades
Crawler hopups, CVD's, shocks, gear sets.
A narrowed out section down the middle would be useful for smaller scale type rigs.

We were looking at that damage after the event, it looks to me if we use a mix with less sand in the areas that are eroding we should be fine. I considered the sealer but it actually makes it too slick. I checked into the bedliner and the quotes I was given were in the $400-$500 range. Ive been thinking of the modular setup and have been putting a few things on cad, its funny that you suggested the rounded off steps because that was the first thing I drew up, I built something like it down at the "farm" and I love crawling it. I was also thinking of doing a modular "tank trap" or "hottub"... Zach and I have been talking about that since I started helping with the course and the little one we had at the comp was a trial to see how it worked. I think the long climbs might be somewhat limited by location, its hard to have a mountain in the middle of the store (even though we did joke about a 15' tall one sticking thru the ceiling). Dont expect any big changes for the next comp but, if it does well, and people start buying crawler parts, you will start seeing some good things.
Either Zach ( I just volunteered you )or I will take all of your ideas back to the owner so keep them coming, especially the parts suggestions. (no promises on what we can get him to keep in stock unless people request it and buy it)
Before I forget, when I was leaving Saturday, the owner said if I got people email address' we could set up a mailing list for events. What do you all think of that?
Full Axial Axles (part # AX30488)
Axial Transmission (AX30487)
Wheely King assembled no electronics (part # 10836) (I'll take the 1st 1)
dubro 6-32 rod ends 12 pack (part # 2267)
Feel free to second my suggestions

Modular course would be sweet.
Like "grown up" legos...lol
Post up some of these cad drawings guys, sound interesting.
I am trying my damndest to get into crawling. I love bashing but organized events are what keep me going. Kinda burned out on racing but this is a whole new ballgame if (even if once a month) an event was held at the hobbytown... Like a club race, pay a couple bux to enter, no prizes or anything but you get braggin rights till next time.

not sure when the next time I can make it into the shop is so Ill throw up some screen prints of what Im thinking....
This is the "addition" I was thinking of if he realy does decide to move the trainset. Its based on a 4x8 layout 20" high (to match the other section). The front 2' would be rock and the rear 2' would be the climb. Construction would be foam (4" white polystyrene) covered in red dyed concrete. each section would be built seperate and stacked one ontop of the other to give the look of rock strata. I did this around my Pond in my backyard and it works realy well. It would take 2 4x8 pieces of foam and about 4 bags of crete (you dont actually cover the entire piece with the exception of the top). The big advantage is that it can be built offsite and brought in and stacked together as a finished product. Dont have to worry about all the mess in the shop.

I still havent driven the one you guys did already!?!?!?
Its my fault though. Always working or just never making it there. Ohhh well. Its good to see they are going to make it a bit bigger..
The best part of it all is I am not learning what to make this spring in my own backyard.
What I have learned..
Small rock - Bad.. worthless.. moves to much
Large rock. Perfect but needs to be locked in. Glued down or whatever.
Foam/Cement for your moab area. Works very well. Hell I knew this from day one but havent tried it yet.
I am just glad there is places to crawl when it rains/snows and its cold..
But in the summer time.. hell I got my own yard

I was thinking, that new addition could be made from 2" and 4" foam to give different sizes of "strata" that would make it a wicked obsticle with all sorts of different lines. Also, you could have 2 bridges that would be temp, they could be stored between comps so that people could walk between the sections.

should make a small straight climb winch optional for plus points or neg. which ever is better for another like peg design side to side motion to climb up that long side
