I know Zach has talked about it before and with crawling in the area taking off I think its time to bring up the subject again. Lets look at putting together a local Crawling club. We could have our own events, our own rules etc.
Events could be kept to a 2hr drive max from whatever "home" is decided for the club.
Rules could be based off the Nat rules but we could add or subtract them (would still need to ran for the entire season).
Bi-monthly meetings held at a hobbyshop with a course (Hobbyshop approval would be needed of course)
Maybe we could setup a point series/championship that could include indoor and outdoor courses.
What do you guys think?

Sounds cool, especially the 2 hour drive thing...

Sounds good to me also! I talked with a guy on rccrawler that lives in Streator, so maybe i'll get a hold of him to so I can get some more people involved? I'm sure I can get stratcat to get in on this also! He'll be the entertainment all the time! I was talkin to Bernie at LHR back in the early fall and he was thinkin about doin something outside for a crawlin course maybe? I need to bug him about it again to see what he thinks :joy:

Not much outside near you guys from what I've seen.
Once or twice a month is good.
I'd run the rules to exactness, that way if later down the road you send a guy to nationals or a member visits another club he or she knows exactly whats going on. The rules have been perfected over the years there isn't any loopholes. I've had people get angry with me in my club when I have relaxed the rules a bit, not good. The rules seem like overload but every rule has it's reason. I know Cole82 is coming up with his own set of rules for Iowa, I'm still not sure it's going to work out as he planned. He knows whats going on but everyone who visits will be confussed. When it comes time to hold a large Midwest event in the fall all the Iowa guys are going to be confussed.
I would highly recommend a series of comps. It would be better for the owner as he wouldn't have to fork out high dollar prizes every round. It nets you a better outlook on who is really putting down good lines. You don't have the lucky winner.
Distance is a huge factor, My club has comps over 2 states as a result we loose members as no one wants to drive to ------- at these gas prices to stay in the series. Now the MN club is HUGE as they have had one spot to comp at all along. People show up at the same spot every other weekend, word gets out locally to the racer types at that location and next thing you know they have 20 or so every comp. I don't know if I would recommend staying at Naperville for all the comps. But, just proving a point.

it will be hard to find outside comp locations but, I have a few places I am going to check out when it gets warm. Im thinking combining indoor and outdoor comps in 1 series could be fun, that way noone can excel on 1 type. Looks like we would have enough interest, lets see what Zach comes back with (that little room in the back of HT would be perfect)

HobbyTown USA in Naperville is being kind enough to let us use their facility to hold meetings in their backroom. Also, registered club members will receive a 10% store discount.
Things on the agenda will be:
A name
meet and greet
meeting schedule
possibility of a comp series
Rules discusson (to make sure everyone is aware of comp rules)
Also, bring your truck, the course will be open and it will be a great time to work out those "bugs" you've had or even help you build that new truck.
Until we settle on a name I will send a notice to everyone on the signup list from my personal email to notify them (in case you miss this)

How do you "register" to become a club member? Is that the page where you asked for our name/email? Just curious.

What it basically means is you need to be listed as a member. I believe the store will have a "signup" list for everyone, that way someone off the street cant just say they are a club member and get the discount.

The club is for crawlers... if you own a crawler of any class (scale,2.2,super) or just a crawler basher you are welcome to join. The idea of the club isnt just competition, its about getting everyone together to help our rigs and our driving, and to help organize get togethers. That being said there will be some focus on comps since that is the pinicle of crawling but, not the entire focus. Come to the first meeting and check it out.
