Some of his ideas skirt the rules, specifically, the ridged axles.
The sloped nose thing is in theory as starting line advantage, but in practice most gates drop so fast the cars all move forward at the same time. Kenji, you guys racing PWD this year (or did already)?

Back in the day, we forgot we had the derby until the day of, we ended up painting the block yellow and calling it a school bus.
The next year we went all out with a sick car and it was the fastest in my club/whatever its called

It's kinda nice to know what my dad and I did wrong all those years haha. Here's pictures of all of mine. I never won much but they always looked better than everyone elses.
(Won best looking at District with this one)

Longer wheelcase (when allowed) is another great way to make the cars more stable.

Thanks dude my dad is a freaking perfectionist which is why they always looked so good. I wish I could do these things 1 more time now that I could build one by myself.

Two of the most important areas to reduce drag....where the wheel hub touches the wood block...notice how all surfaces of the wheel have been polished and waxed...all cars tend to rattle around on the track...so reducing wheel-to-track friction whenever possible makes them run slicker..make sure your wheels are true and the axles are level/square to the block, or the wheels try to walk in/out on the axle (does that make sense?)... and where the outside face of the wheel rubs under the "nail head".... there are usually little areas of flash from the process that forms the head on the nail...remove it and get it smooth as possible or it acts as a brake on the wheel...

Do you guys have to use nails?
When I used to be into that stuff, we bought a straight axle kit and that kept things nice and square. Tekno EB48.4 HobbyWing XR8 Sanwa M12

Mine. Was alot nicer, but since I got first with it, I decided to celebrate by ducttaping a rocket motor to it and flying it down the street All I did was polish up the wheels and put graphite on the axles. I almost got beat by some kid who stained the whole block of wood and put the wheels on it. Good thing we didn't let him borrow the graphite like he was asking to-LOL Tekno EB48.4 HobbyWing XR8 Sanwa M12
