Where are the good On-Road tracks at?
#1
I'm setting up my Nitro TC3 to be legal for a official track but have no idea where the best ones are. I've heard about a few but never went to any of them...Sooooo.....yea :o (palms up and raised)...I'm seeing if anyone here might know about a track or have been to an on-road track.

I raced an on road Nitro a couple times as RSJ raceway but it was a long time ago and they probably changed things around a lot siince then. Other than that I raced on road electric. I know there is a very large group of people that run at chicago RC that talk all the time on radiocontrolzone.com but don't even bother trying to talk about off roads there. Its not part of their vocabulary.

http://www.chicagolandrc.com

check at chicagorc.com they have a good listing of on road tracks there.

You could also call Hobbytown USA in Oak Park. I hear they have an on-road track there, but I'm not sure. I do know they don't carry many accesories for off-road.

The Hobby Town I goto has a great selection of TC3 parts but there service is pretty bad. However, it is the best place to go when buying a new RC. Right now I would just like to goto a track and try it out first before I decide if I want to try to compete or not. I've seen some on-road courses on videos that look like they were professionaly built with cement bumbs painted red and white as the barriers and resembles an acctual race track. Others I've seen seem to just be some plastic tubing with some wood. Hopfully we'll find a central track that everyone with an on-road can get to one day.

AJ'sin dekalb is a permenant track with the read and white corner rails and such. I've ben there a couple time a long while ago when I was more into on road. From what I remember the track was huge but it was expensive to rnu there twice as much as all the other tracks. RSJ Raceway, Chicagoland R/C raceway, and all the Hobby towns (both St charles and Oak Park) use tubing or interlocking boards to make their tracks in the parking lot.

Current outdoor asphault tracks in the area.

AJ's Raceway (soon to be called Intense Raceway Park) - Dekalb, IL
Chicagoland R/C Raceway - Tinley Park, IL

Other then that there really isn't anything else worth going to for racing.

RSJ is closed now.
