With this little app the iphone just became every car nuts best friend! I don't believe its 100% accurate, however its close enough that it makes for great fun, and if you are careful and do your best to keep the conditions the same run to run then it should be accurate enough to tell if your mods have given you a good performance gain.

I got it for $13, it uses the accelerometers in your iPhone to measure acceleration and give you estimated 0-60mph times, as well as 1/4 mile and HP numbers as well!

I tried it with my daily driver and it was pretty damn accurate.

I used it on my daily driver as an test.

Factory says my daily driver a 1999 Kia Sephia has 125hp and 110lb/ft. 0-60 should be around 10.7s and the 1/4 mile in low 18's @ 80mph or so.

I had a ton of extra weight in the car and its not in super shape anymore, i've got a wicked exhaust leak and a small vacuum leak between the MAF sensor and throttlebody. So I wasn't expecting the factory numbers with all that and 126,000 miles on a well abused car.

So what I did was estimate the extra weight into the weight of the car, added my own body weight in cause the car doesn't drive itself and found a flat road.

Ended up with a 18.68 @ 78mph Not bad for the car considering its condition and all of the extra weight.

0-60 was listed at 11.81 seconds. Which is about normal, the car isn't as peppy down low as it used to be, actually begins to pull harder in the higher gears.

The iPhone and iTouch have a neat little add-in that turns it into a remote control that can operate your iTunes on your computer, so if you want to run music through the computer speakers, you can change songs, volume, etc, all via remote from the Phone.

Pretty slick thinking by those software engineers.

I've used it, it rocks. However it only works with a wifi network. So your PC has to be on the same wifi/wired network as the device.

Works great though.

Would be more uber awesome if it could stream your iphone/ipod music wirelessly to a itunes player. That way you could play your music anywhere, and the same technology could then be applied to car stereo's as well. Wirelessly playing your MP3's to your car stereo would be amazing.

Garage419 just tested the phone against a time slip at E-town. Check out the results and youtube video.

Anti-iphone or not, the application is accurate, and considering it cost just $13 (apple gets 30% of that btw).
