Well, it's stopped raining and the sun is trying to peek through the clouds. So I'm going to DeVry.

Hell, it's a monster truck right?!! What's a little mud?

If someone has a pushbroom that might be a good thing to bring.

Notochord, I agree. My body doesn't like early mornings. It's very hard, almost impossible, to get up at 5:45am if I'm going to work. Strange though, it's very easy if I'm going racing!!!!!!

brian from big squid rc was there filming some video.

I had fun today even though my truck was never officially running. I had mistakely put the piston in the wrong way when I tore it down to check everything and I could barely even start it. I wouldn't idle at all. Finally fixed it, but ever tightened some screws while messing with the carb (thinking it was the problem earlier) and stripped it out. Stupid composite carb! I'm gonna take traxxas up on their trade in deal and pick up a new 2.5R motor and give them my junk one.

A all new 2.5R (which I run good with) is only $100 w/ their replacement deal. The TM is gonna cost a little over $200, plus another $15-20 (not sure) for a backplate.

The only reason mine broke, is because I messed it up. Won't happen again (I hope). Money is slightly tight these days, so the 2.5 is a better option for me. As much as I want a TM, it's gonna have to wait.

Get the TZ for $179. Read this thread http://monster.traxxas.com/showthread.ph...did=266348

Or do what I did at first when using a bump start. Get the TZ (P)-T w/ the 11K slide carb. It was a near drop in. No grinding crank fins, no screwy carb linkage changes, I just had to put 2 thin shims from the Ofna Shim kit on the shaft before putting on the stock flywheel, trimmed the inner edges of the clutch shoes with a dremel, used an HPI clutch nut, and slightly elongated the tranny mount holes forward. It took a total of 1/2 hour and $10. I'd call that a near drop in.

I'd now add-get the 3Racing motor mount!!! http://www.3racing.com.hk/ # RE-052/T If you get it you can move the motor back and won't have to elongate the tranny mounts but the littlest bit.

tz is nothing more then a tm with just slightly more top end, not even that much. The only other difference is out of the box a tm will just bolt up, a tz needs to be modifyed.

actually tune you can get a tm off ebay brand new for about 180 shipped. Im about to pick one up to use as a backup.

It's not much at all and it is worth it. Like I said, $10 and a 1/2 hour for .4 HP more AND it's cheaper. Do what you want. I've got both and I prefer the TZ. The dyno has shown the difference.

so your saying a 10 dollar clutchnut, and a 180 motor is more then my 180 dollar shipped motor from ebay? Mines 10 dollars cheaper and will just drop in and make about 98% of the same power as your tz. But to each his own.

You will all get rid of your os tm's and tz's when you get spanked by me! Mwahahaha.

My truck is soooo fast, dirt doesn't even stick to it anymore. It just bounces off. Just look at the pic and you'll see what I mean. That sucker is spotless!

Mich, It's a $4 HPI nut and a $6 Ofna engine shim kit at Al's. And you're right, to each his own.

But keep in mind that the new straight at the LH outdoor track is going to be about 200' long. That's where the TZ with its higher RPMs, broader torque curve, and higher HP (.3 actually) at 28k rpm will shine. Especially one with a Trinity pipe or, I think even better, the RB TM323 header and pipe like mine.

I'm starting to get the impression that much of what you're posting is based on opinion. Not well known engineering fact and current automotive technology.

ive owned both and i prefer the tm. And yes from the experience of using or witnessing these parts i will give you my opinion on them. Its not just something i think will happen but rather from what i have seen, and owned. But i guess after leisure opens we can race and then see who the better driver is with different equipment.

I too had a good time... it was a blast. Brian from Big Squid was there and got some footage, especially firesprinks launch over a huge puddle with his buggy. Can't wait to see that again! Thanks guys for the help and tips and Brian thanks again for the fuel and stickers.
