I don't know much about Lipos and lipo specific chargers, but I'm ready to step up to the plate. I'm only going to use it with my brushed hpi blitz, that has a low current cutoff.
So, What;s a cheap budget setup that I can still use to race say at the Winfield races and hobbytown races?? And..I heard that with the lipos, there are some killer run times, which most heats and mains are only 5 minutes long so I am assuming that I can get away with one lipo and charge it during my down time???

hyperion charger and a zippy pack is a good way to get in, but as the lipo shoot out showed, the zippy is not the best performing pack. do you have a power supply, or do you need a ac/dc charger?

Thanks for chiming in
As for all out performance, i'm not really too concerned. I was not really competitive when I did race back in the mid 90s, I was more in it just to race and have fun. In which will still hold true for today
I would like a charger that I can keep for a while and not have to upgrade anytime soon, basically a slighter better than a budget set up, but not full out racing. I don't mind if I have to run a powersupply but I prefer an ac/dc unit because I'm limited on space for my r/c stuff
Do you recommend any vendors to buy from?

Imax B6 AC
6000mAh 7.4 volt 25C 2S2P Lipo Battery
he is local, and you can call him to find out a combo deal for a charger, lipo and lipo sack. (i highly recommend the lipo sack!)

I will be placing my order soon! You are the man, thanks for your help.
Also, I heard that with the lipos have some killer run times, what do you think would be exptected from that pack?
*I currently use packs that are 1800-2400 mah with a cheap peak charger(they were cheap $5 packs at toys r us that worked okay in my 27t touring car, but not so good in the blitz) So these lipos will be a huge upgrade!
Back in the day, I had the 1200 sce yellow sanyo packs that would barely get 4-5 minutes out of them, then I stepped up to the 1400 red sanyo scr then the 1700 black sanyo cells...how's that for a trip into the past:banana:

looking at around 1/2 hour a charge, most likely more. always charge in the sack. its a good practice to get into from the start.

UPDATE**
I placed an order last Monday night and revieved them Thursday afternoon in the post. I ordered an ac/dc charger but was shipped the dc version. I called the company and left a voicemail and within a few minutes I received a call from John to fix the order. Instead of shipping back the charger, he was going to make up the difference and send out another pack.
I am really impressed with the lipo's power and run time! (this is compared to my under 2000 7.2v packs). I think I am going to upgrade to brushless power and put the hpi blitz's esc/motor into my oldschool rc10t.
