Inventor fuels car with dead cats
Posted by: RCDad - 09-14-2005, 04:57 PM - Forum: Off-Topic - No Replies

BERLIN, Germany (Reuters) -- A German inventor has angered animal rights activists with his answer to fighting the soaring cost of fuel -- dead cats.

Christian Koch, 55, from the eastern county of Saxony, told Bild newspaper that his organic diesel fuel -- a homemade blend of garbage, run-over cats and other ingredients -- is a proven alternative to normal consumer diesel.

"I drive my normal diesel-powered car with this mixture," Koch said. "I have gone 170,000 km (106,000 miles) without a problem."

The Web site of Koch's firm, "Alphakat GmbH", says his patented "KDV 500" machine can produce what he calls the "bio-diesel" fuel at about 23 euro cents (30 cents) a liter, which is about one-fifth the price at petrol stations now.

Koch said around 20 dead cats added into the mix could help produce enough fuel to fill up a 50-liter (11 gallon) tank.

But the president of the German Society for the Protection of Animals, Wolfgang Apel, said using dead cats for fuel was illegal.

"There's no danger for cats and dogs in Germany because this practice is outlawed in Germany," Apel told Bild on Wednesday in a story entitled "Can you really make fuel out of cats?"

"We're going to keep an eye on this case," Apel said.

Final race at Chicagoland R/C Raceway (Tinley)
Posted by: Walt - 09-14-2005, 08:17 AM - Forum: Racers Forum - Replies (16)

I want to remind everyone that Sunday, September 25th will be our last on-road race of the season at Chicagoland R/C Raceway (aka: Tinley). It will also be our last points/trophy/raffle race of the season (unless it's rained out, in which case we'll postpone until the following Sunday, October 2nd).

I also wanted to officially announce what many have already figured out… this will be the final race of the final season at Tinley. I will not be hosting races next summer at the bowling alley, or anywhere else.

It has been a fun 3+ years of running races, and, overall, it has been a very rewarding experience for me. However, when I started I had no kids, and now I have two young kids. And when I started Tinley there was really no good place to race outdoors on-road. Next summer, there will be other opportunities for on-road racing outdoors. AJ's is now Intense, and they have a much better outdoor on-road program than in the past. Leisure is building a new 'world class' RC racing complex in Joliet just a short drive down I-80 from my location. There are rumors of other tracks in the works. My main reason for hosting races: to allow myself (as well as my friends) someplace to race is no longer so valid.

I want to extend a sincere 'thank you' to all that have come out and raced at my track over the last 3+ years. The vast majority of you have been a pure delight to deal with, and you made getting up at 5am nearly ever Sunday not seem like such a bad idea.

I will continue to race, and I am sure all of you will too, so I look forward to keeping in touch with all of you at the local RC tracks.

On a separate but related note, all off my RC track gear is for sale. I'm pretty sure I know everyone that might be interested in it, and have already contacted them directly, but if any of you are interested in buying a 'turn-key' operation to run RC races (you just need to supply the parking lot), please get in touch with me so we can discuss.

I hope you can all make it out to our final race, as it is the end of yet another RC-era of racing in Chicagoland.

If just a few of you had as much fun racing in Tinley as I did, it was all worth it.

See you at the track (one last time)!

K7003 K Factory 1/8 Lightweight Antenna Rod Mount Set (w/super flexible antenna rods 2pcs)

http://www.kfactoryracing.com/produ...K7003&pageNum=1

Both items have 3 different colors available: Blue, Black & Orange.

When K Factory has antenna mount & rods, you know, they will be quite different. Designers put a nylon antenna rod cap, nylon antenna mount (combined with aluminum mount) & super flexible antenna rod together to become the most unique antenna rod mount set in the market. The mount & cap are light, eye-catching & reliable. In addition, K Factory smoke color antenna rods are the best you can find in the market. Now, let’s see how they work.

Features:

> Light & strong

> Reliable & convenient

> Special antenna rod

> Easy to identify

Most antenna mounts are made of aluminum & come with a rubber cap. They are also good, but just too heavy & too similar. Here, they used special nylon material to produce an antenna mount & cap. They are much lighter. To make the set stronger & easier to install, they also combined the nylon mount with an alum. mount. Just a small 3mm screw can hold the set very well.

To hold the antenna rod mount set, you just need to drill or find a small hole on the radio plate. The assembly is very easy. These nylon mount & caps also have some special designs inside to hold the antenna rod tight. This reliable design can make sure that the antenna rod doesn’t fall off during racing. There is a small hole on the nylon mount for you to put the antenna wire through easily. Also, a unique long opening is also opened on the nylon cap for antenna the wire to come out. Both antenna rod hole & opening are designed to protect the antenna wire from being damaged. Traditional rubber cap & alum. mounts tend to damage the antenna wire occasionally.

The K Factory antenna rod is made of special a material which is extremely flexible. You can hold the two ends of the rod & try to bend it. It’s almost impossible to damage it. This means the K Factory antenna rod can hold the shape under most situations. It doesn’t break or have white scars on the body. Therefore, the life span of the KF antenna rod is quite long & this will save you money on continuous buying of antenna rods.

Due to the special nylon cap & antenna rod used, you can easily identify the KF antenna rod mount set when the car is coved with the body. There are 4 colors available for the antenna rod mount, Blue, Black Grey & Orange, no matter which size you buy. Installing the KF antenna rod mount set is a good way to personalize your vehicle.

  RS4 Set up for tinley!!!
Posted by: Ponch - 09-13-2005, 07:54 PM - Forum: Racers Forum - Replies (6)

What's the ideal setup?

I already have 40 shore tires, f/r, and I lowered everything about as low as it can go without hitting the ground, is there anything else I should do, as it's pretty much stock RS4 3 18ss kit, but with a PL Nemesis body. I also have my DR turned down to 85%.

  Upgrade before or after??
Posted by: Obsessive R/C - 09-13-2005, 06:22 PM - Forum: Racers Forum - Replies (8)

I am getting a new motor for my T-Maxx...currently I have stock diffs and R/P and stock axles.

I already have the parts to upgrade my diffs (Kippster alum. diff cups and RRP gears) and have a full set of CVD's.

I am already in the middle of tear down to change arms. Should I go ahead and upgrade now, or put it back together the way it was and wait to see if things start to break??
