8ight Starter Box - son1cn - 01-06-2007 I have an 8ight RTR and got This Starter Box and got it set up so it fits well, but the starter box wheel doesn't engage the flywheel by about 1mm, and i think my motor mount is too tall, so it can fit the spin start on with no problems. Next week i am getting an OS 30vg and it is the no pullstart version, so i am wondering what motor mount would work to lower the flywheel enough to be able to start with no problems. The stock motor mount is 20mm high and the mount screws and spaced 30mm apart. I am also running the stock flywheel This one i believe. 8ight Starter Box - son1cn - 01-06-2007 if anyone with an 8ight could measure their motor mount for height, and distance from screw head to screw head, that would be great. 8ight Starter Box - Ponch - 01-06-2007 It's probably the same height as any other 8ight mount. Don't go changing crap like that. Get some 1mm shims and shim up the starter box motor and open up the hole in the chassis with a file so that the wheel can fit up in the chassis well. I'll snap a pic of my chassis in a minute to show you what I mean. 8ight Starter Box - son1cn - 01-06-2007 what do you mean shim up the starter box? the starter box i got can't go anywhere higher 8ight Starter Box - Ponch - 01-06-2007 The motor inside of the starter box can be shimmed up. 8ight Starter Box - kevinF - 01-06-2007 Ponch Wrote:The motor inside of the starter box can be shimmed up. no it cant, the motor mount on the starter box is attached to the top frame, not the bottom like yours 8ight Starter Box - Ponch - 01-06-2007 Damn....IDK, is the wheel hitting the chassis before the flywheel or the box won't allow it to travel down far enough? 8ight Starter Box - son1cn - 01-06-2007 starter wheel doesn't go any higher, i got this compact one and i can't make the wheel any higher, the wheel doesn't hit the chassis, it just doesn't touch the flywheel enough. Is there perhaps a bigger flywheel i could get to fix the problem? 8ight Starter Box - kevinF - 01-06-2007 nah, cause i have seen a few people start theirs with this starter box, some had trouble but it can be done w/o modding?? 8ight Starter Box - son1cn - 01-06-2007 This is my starter box this is the flywheel access hole as you can see, the starter wheel isn't very tall, and the flywheel is very recessed 8ight Starter Box - Ponch - 01-06-2007 Return the box and get one of the ones that people have suggested that are KNOWN to work. 8ight Starter Box - son1cn - 01-06-2007 i would, but i got it at the leisure shop, which is an hour from me 8ight Starter Box - destroy_my_revo_15 - 01-06-2007 i beleive that is the one mitchell runs maybe.... im not positive tho so if it is than his worked last night... i seen it lol 8ight Starter Box - son1cn - 01-06-2007 i saw one at LHR today, but he was using the 8ight, not the 8ight rtr, so i got it at my house now, and i can't get it to work 8ight Starter Box - destroy_my_revo_15 - 01-06-2007 ohh didnt know you have the rtr...sorry 8ight Starter Box - son1cn - 01-06-2007 yep, thats what the leisure hour guy said too, looks like i will be spending half my sunday going back to leisure, unless someone has a brilliant idea up their sleeve 8ight Starter Box - FreeRideFrosty - 01-06-2007 destroy_my_revo_15 Wrote:i beleive that is the one mitchell runs maybe.... im not positive tho so if it is than his worked last night... i seen it lol They were having nothing but problems with getting that box to start the motor though. I'm not sure if it was how it fit or if it was the box itself. Either way.... return it and get one that works for sure. 8ight Starter Box - Ponch - 01-06-2007 Mitch Pacin uses the same box I have, with great success. 8ight Starter Box - FreeRideFrosty - 01-06-2007 Then he had the box shown above for his truggy maybe. Either way, they were having problems. 8ight Starter Box - Ponch - 01-06-2007 That wasn't even his, it was this mexican (I think he's mexican) guy's that I know and mitch was trying to get his jammin to start on it, but it wouldn't. 8ight Starter Box - motoxer4life - 01-06-2007 Hey i got my 8ight (kit) to work with the ofna chrome top u said u got and it works good. I just lined up the front pegs instead of the back and it works. 8ight Starter Box - son1cn - 01-06-2007 well tomorrow i will take my 8ight rtr and the bad starter box back, and have them show me one that works 8ight Starter Box - maxximum_44 - 01-06-2007 Don't mod it, just return that sucka for something that works out the box. 8ight Starter Box - Ponch - 01-06-2007 son1cn Wrote:well tomorrow i will take my 8ight rtr and the bad starter box back, and have them show me one that works Some of the lh guys don't know JACK SHI+ and will sell you what THEY THINK will work. Get either that black one that I have or the mugen box. Both are PROVEN THAT THEY WORK. Print this out; Mugen Pro Starter Box BII 1/8 Off Road Starter Box [MUGB0230] OFNA 1/10 Universal Starter Box [OFN10256] And bring that to them. Tell them you want either of those. 8ight Starter Box - kevinF - 01-06-2007 or get this one.....I have this one works great. http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/3431 all you gotta do is cut the wheel on the starter box, turn it on and make it spin and then take a razor blade and slowly cut like 2-3mm off each side. and thats^^^^^^^where to put the screws^^^^^ works great |
