losi 8 build / need advice
#1
I have begun to build my losi 8 and have noticed in the instructions that it does not show how the front hinge pins
(part # a6501 in step B-06) are held in place.

do thies just pop in or what?

also i knoticed the parts are very tight. anyone shave the parts for more free movement or just let it work in?

Yep the hinge pins are "captured", so just slide them in.

The parts will be tight for the first tank or two. Do not worry about the steering or diffs being tight, they'll free up quickly.

what holds them in? shouldnt there be a set screw on the sides or something? looks like they will just slide down into the wheel

There is a plastic cover that goes over them.

ok I kinda figured you guys were talking about the lower hinge pins by the diff case.

i'm refering to the outer ones on the front hub carrier that are up and down.

please look at your instuction book.

Ohh those, just push them in there as far as they'll go, there will still be a gap between the head of the pin and the plastic carrier. Then, in that bag, you'll notice a couple of silver setscrews. Those get threaded into the carrier and fit into the slot on the pins. The holes are just above and below the wheel hex. The instructions don't show to put them in but I figured they fit there and they do.

GW, are you in the bi-focals club with me? Working on small stuff is a bitch! I take off my glasses and then get e-clips shot into my eyeball. I need some high magnification "hobby" glasses made up.
