If you are even remotely thinking about 1/8 scale buggy..........BUY ROCCO"S JAMMIN'!!!!!! Dude its a steal, and you will have one pimped out ride, its set up very nicely, you wont get that quality / quantity anywhere else nearly that cheap, I say go for it man, just my .02 Wink

Everybody here is so hard on Duratrax! Why? They have a stress warranty on all their plastic parts! Thats the whole thing since there is no metal on it. As soon as every part on it breaks, you jsut have to send it in and in several weeks, a new part will arrive from China and you good to go until the next part breaks a few minutes later! What more could you want?
My buddy had one and it almost NEVER broke. It almost never starts, so it still looks MINT!
I say buy the Duratrax! They stand behind their products. Way, way behind.

Hoobajoob, I just started racing buggy straight from monster truck so I know were your coming from. I looked around for a while to try & find a "good" deal for a buggy, but it was hard to get one from fleabay. I finnaly got a great beal from cemeb4bk on his X1 CR, and let me tell you, it handels like a dream. For being my first buggy I couldn'r be happier. There are like 3 or five guys that were racing the X1 CR this weekend & they helped me out with spare part's that I didn't think were going to break. Not only is Roco's buggy a good deal, but he takes good care of his stuff and the guy on this forum wouldn't try & steer you wrong. What you will save in the beginning with new you will loose with quality and that will hold back any good racer form any class. The choice is up to you young sky walker, choose wisely and you will have a prosperous future in 8 scale. Choose badly & you will have a short and painfuly death on Fleabay!! Sad

There has to be other comparable alternatives to buying a Duratrax or an expensive high end one. What about an XTM or Hot Bodies Lightning or something? I had a GS Storm SUT. It was a bit outdated as a truggy, but it was durable! The GS Storm buggy could be a reasonable alternative to that Vendetta thing.

Hey, not everyone can drive a Thunder Tiger, ya know.

Well, better than a Duratrax, but about as cheap:

If you really wanna go cheap and still get a half way decent buggy. Go with Ofna 9.5! I had one and truly could not break it!!! I beat the hell outta that buggy and it just asked for more! The only time I ever broke was a c-hub and a knuckle(actually Chris-Newguy broke it) down in STL. But that was only after hitting a tree stump that had appeared on the track. Other than that it was great! And I'm sure there are a few people on this board that can attest to how bad I beat it. Confusedmash: Confusedmash: Confusedmash:

As I said earlier.... if you want to go cheaper than Roccos look for a K3. Buying a Storm or a Hyper 7 (I have personally owned both) is going to be useless to you. You will end up with a nice durable basher buggy but that is about it. If you want to really get a feel for the class and may take up racing, even occasionally, seriously consider Rocco's. JMO again.

I would prolly say roccos. I dont even no alot about buggies but just by looking at the duratrax shows its made cheaply. And dont worry about getting a good buggy when you are just starting out racing cause i went from a savage straight to a losi 8ight and i didint break anytihng yet! And i suck at driving!!

the ultra mbx has been on there line forever, its based off the Ultra Worlds II from like 90' lol, I would stay away from it.............I recommend the hyper 8 for an RtR, its a great car, I honestly have never heard anything bad about it, maybe check it out, or just buy Rocco or Mikes, they are set up man, you gotta' kick down $ to get those rigs new, they are both awesome cars at great prices, I recommend buying used actually, JMO Wink

RTR Sportwerks Turmoil would be my pick for a decent RTR.....Like stated that MBX Ofna buggy is VERY outdated and has been in that same form for the past 7 years or so....
