looking to get my first personal car. was looking around to see what other people got as their first car, or what they think i should get or what they have to offer for me.
Parents Rules about the Car
No Camaros/Firebirds/Mustangs (might as well kill me now)
Preferrably 4 doors, but 2 doors are ok
Prefer something with a 4 cyl or V6 (again... take away V8's and kill me)
2 Airbags.

Doesnt look like a TOTAL POS (willing to work with rusted body panels and body work, as long as it aint totally ruined i can deal with what i'm given)
Preferrably under 2 grand. (lower the better)

dude if you really want a miata i got a shoe box (size 15) you can drive .I mean thats pretty much what a miata is LOL! Ill bet its got more room than that miata too! And if you do get the miata you could always park it in my shoebox! ROLMAO!

Awful Kanaful has a 740. Then again his family owns a volvo dealer! Thing is pretty fast for being a mildly modded turbo, and hes looking to go bigger!

My first car was an 89 Cavalier, bought the car for $300, beat the piss outta it for a year and sold it for $200. Car was reliable though. I never replaced a single part on that car except for a rim(didn't like the 8 inch curb at 35).
I'll check with my buddy and see how much he is thinking about letting his mr2 go for. 2 door, 2 seater, pretty good condition I do believe.

I bought a ford ranger pickup for about that price, drove the hell out of it and sold it for the same price. I miss that thing, I put everything I owned in it at one time or another.
check out acura inegras, it's like the lux version of the civic, look much better decent fuel milage and the aftermarket if out of this world. VW are good chioce also but quality parts are kinda expensive. The old turbo dodges are hella fast and be had for cheap but the aftermarket is kinda dead, and some parts can be hard to come by. See if you can something like a chevy vega to mess around with or a monza spider. Maybe even a Nissian 240 Z can put the skyline in them or just mod the existing with good results, and they are Rear wheel drive so you can have some fun with them. the same for the older 300Z's kinda heavy and not a lot of room but are pretty quick and look super cool. you could always try to find a Buick Grand national but good luck with that and they are salty, but man are they fast!!
I say go for something with reliability that will cost minimal amounts of money out of your pocket and gets you from point a to b without causing a fuss....

i dont mind much about a 2 seater, its not like i need to be toting people around in it. its more so as something for me to drive and have as my own and to get some time with more hands on experience than the small amount of work i get at my friends house on his cars.
still like the idea of a miata/golf or something, yes i know miatas are small, yes i know they're marketed toward the gay community and the women. but surprisingly its one of the few cars that i like that my parents are alright with.

dude i dont care what ANYONE says..old mazda's are JUNK.But what do i know right? Im just a guy who works as a f*&king mechanic for a living! Nah i doubt i know what im talking about......

toyota camry for the win......know a guy who has over 300k miles on the stock tranny, engine, drivetrain, etc. still running good w/o problems. but in order to get that many miles you cant drive like an ass hole.
I know my dad had the stock tires last him a little under 100k miles before the weights got messed up.
