I had a gel cell and hated it, nothin but problems. Heavy as hell, didn't hold a charge long at all (box would be too weak to turn over the motor after 1 start). I went with stick packs and the charge on them lasts days and my box spins alot faster with them.

Two stick packs make for 14.4v @ 3300mah. A single gel cell is 12v @ 7,000mah and holds a constant load much better. It would take 24 sub-c cells (4 stick packs) to equal the capacity of a single gel cell and provide the voltage needed to turn the motor over.

Sure, its got more ump, but its only 2.4v more than a gel cell at half the capacity when using 3300mah packs. It won't last as long.

Stick packs are lighter, but weight doesn't bother me, I'm not carrying it all the time. Just to the car, and back.

The stick packs hold a charge longer because they are better quality the gell cells blow totally not worth all the trouble

Thats opinion, heres fact.

2 3300mah stick packs only make 14.2v @ 3300mah,
1 Gel cell is 12v @ 7,000mah.

Gel cell has twice the capacity and will last twice as long even though it has 20% less voltage. If you ran a voltage regulator on the stick pack option and limited it to 12v, you'd still only get the rated equivalent of ~4000mah.

This is fact. A gel cell will last longer, even though its total voltage is 20% less than 2 stick packs.

ya i ordered them instead since theyve always been good to me.
and another question, How do you assemble the kit, do you follow the numbers? Because it starts with a 5 and skips some numbers. Or do you just go from page to page?

numbers is numbers, reality is reality. I guarantee my starter box last longer on 1 charge with stick packs than gel cells. Most of the time the gel cells u get from hobby shops are shitty and old anyway. They are much heavier, dont have nearly as much umph when it comes to turning motors over and they flat out dont perform as well. Im not just talking out of my ass I ran a gell cell in all my boxes for 3 years and it sucked

well facts are facts.... But real world usage is what proves something to me... Ive had gel cells and sticks...

Gel cells- are heavy and delicate... They seem to be very fragile and if they are over drained they seem to burn out very quick.... Gel cells take forever to charge with that ghey lil wall charger so rechaging at the track isnt really an option...

Stick packs are light and pretty tough... They do seem too hold a charge well but somtimes leave you wishing they had alittle more capacity BUT you can charge both in like a half hour in a pinch ( or run a single pack in a real pinch) I personally find stick packs WAAAAAAAAY more convenient and more user friendly

Guess you bought shitty stuff then. My gel will last 2 or 3 weeks without a charge. Thats using it twice a week.

Looks like the only stuff they really skipped are the assembly of the differentials. If you've had 1 differential apart, you can assemble a new one without instructions. There are 3 rubber o-ring seals that go into a differential. The outdrive seals, and the case/gear o-ring. should be a total of 2 small o-rings, and 1 big, thin o-ring for each differential.
