If you wanted just a tad extra I used to use the OS TZ and I was able to keep up with truggys and did very well with that eng. It wasn't sent out to have mods done to it just stock, to me the .23 was just to much and you wouldn't be able to use the truck to its fullest potential. I did however have the trinity pipe that helped to wake it up some but its good motor in my book.
Ran it all season with not one problem and finished in the 3rd place of our series race that was 6 weeks long.
Just my .2cents

Just jumping in. I have to agree. Steve Slayden ran a TZ & whipped butt. I think thats about all the power the small parts are capable of withstanding, over periods of running. I also had a friend that ran a Fantom .18 & it was awesome. I have a Fantom .15 & it's been very nice also. I've never seen a TZ run. I have a cv-rx & love it. Also seen people who love the TM models everywhere. They run Very well ! The only Big Block Maxx I'm keeping is my JT Racer. The 1/8 buggy design OFNA transmission & Bigger clutch bell seem to be a proven design. The diffs. can fly apart whenever. Cheap to fix & if I plan on racing I'll just make sure they are as good as possible before hand. Hope to go U.E. Eventually on it anyway.

destroy my revo: On the bottom of the TZ block there are some cooling fins, you have to file them down to make it fit. The block is a soft material so you dont have to use any real special tools to do the job, I used a dremel with a small sanding drum to get the majority of the material off then I used just a small hand file to make it all smooth and touch up the high spots. For a hand file I just bought me a metal nail file that you would use on you fingers and it worked great just look for a rough one (tip from my wife). There where a couple other parts that I needed to get for the engine for the clutch bells to line up right but if you interested I can post them for ya.
I also do believe that I have all the part numbers still to make a set of the Xwings that where being used for a while incase any of you guys would like to make a set. Cant make any promises that I still have them.

destroymy revo: I will look up the part numbers for you of what you would all need to get it only like 15.00 dollars worth of stuff, about the starter box I'm not 100% about that so I dont want to give you the wrong info on that , I used one but that dont mean you do one of the roto starts might work on the eng.
And as far as the carb it comes with a rotary carb.

This is how mine was setup
I had the TZ and bought me some of the Xtreme carbon fiber kits for the TH servo and got rid of the TH/Reverse servo box. Then I bought me a T Maxx throttle linkage kit and used that instead of the stock ones that came with the Revo.
Here is a picture of what it looked like, it worked out great except I would rather of used the stock TH servo horn instead of the one I used I think I would have gotten a better placement for the TH linkage

I dont have my Revo anymore I decided to sell it and get me a CRT and try my luck with that. I loved my revo and it ran just as good as a truggy but i was just missing some things that I wish I had. Such as a center diff no one had done a mod for it befor I sold it, and a stupid reason was I stuck so much money into it to get it to where it was I said the heck with it. I guess not really a good move but I think I will be able to improve with a truggy.
But thanks for the props man

Everything I have right now is Basher. But I'm looking Racer. The REVO was sweet for sure, curious on how the CRT works out. Looks very nice right out of the box to me. The Hellfire I wonder about also. Waiting on better info on both. Sorry to Hijack the thread

destroy: The clutch is the stock clutch I think what your talking about is the flywheel it's a after market flywheel. Its larger then the stock one and I chose this one to help with useing a starter box. Its not needed

Here are the parts that I used to have everything line up on the TZ motor.
They are Tower Hobbies part numbers and all together it all was 35.26 shipped to KS back when I lived there so it should be cheaper for you.
LXJL50- Cone Split Beveled I used this for the new Flywheel insted of the one off the stock eng
LXJJ88- Fiber Washers 5x8mm used these to space the CB so it wouldn't rub on the flywheel
LXKAZ3- Vented Flywheel Its larger then stock and its vented (again same as the traxxas one but traxxas didnt have theres out when I bought this)
LXJF69- Clutch Adapter Its like a extension for the crank shaft because the one on the TZ is a little short so you need this for the CB to line up with the spur gear.
