I was wondering if this was a good engine for a replacement for the stock 2.5 t-maxx.
I know I would need to buy the engine mounts for it to work.
here is another page with info on it

You would need to get cvd's, probably new diffs, and your tranny might go.

No...it's not false, you can just drop it in there and let her rip. Although given the power of that mill you might chew your drivetrain to shreds.

then you should go with some MIP CVDs they are in the middle price range and middle quality, as for diffs, IDK

MIP's will work for outer cvd's, but I heard they are terrible for center cvd's.

Mike it will be pricey to get a maxx to hold that power. I know there was a modded version of that motor on here a while back... they are supposed to rip but will destroy the stock drivetrain. (And don't land on power... ever. LoL)

FWIW----I have heard there was issues with the Picco 26.
I hear more good things on the Picco 27
I would go with the 27 over the 26.
Also you can get the 27 cheaper at tower hobbies.
There is a guy I will be with on Sunday that runs the Picco 27 in his ride.
It is the maxx with a buggy body and wing on it---some of you may have seen him. Astro will be there two with us.
See it for yourself---the maxx does real nice with it in there.

the .26 is a drop in. if he goes with the .27 he will need a convertion kit.

That is what I thought... that is also the reason the .27 is more reliable... it is a true BB while the .26 is a bored out midblock...

I guess I will stick with the stock motor then until I can afford to do a BB conversion, which will be a while, and make all the necessary changes to run it. or maybe I will just buy some kind of drop-in .18 for not, I am not sure.

I kmow NitroN had issues with his 26---he kept blowing it or something so they eventually had it and decised to send him the 27 in it's place.

Do a drop-in .18 at most on the maxx. They are even more of a money pit when you decide to go BB. You will be looking at a grand before you know it...
