The LHS should have smaller THS gaskets for case to header connection, I bought some at Leisure Hours, they are noticably smaller. $5 for qty:2
I use the traxxas BB kit header (made for BB's) and the stock pipe with the stinger drilled out to improve flow. My TZ is sick....geared 16T CB/40T Spur I also moved the tranny forward like 4-5mm and run a full mugen 1/8 scale clutch, bolts right on like it was made for it. Only thing I had to do was file down the clutch nut.

The TRX BB header flanges out at the end so the pipe coupler stays put (unlike the OS header which slides in and out of the couple too easy IMO). Plus the angle of the header right where it touches the case is way less abrupt than the OS header. Also it's fatter inside the header than the OS which equals increased airflow.

I should add, use the THS gasket (because it's smaller) and a normal 1/8 scale gasket for the TRX header. Overlap the two to make one good seal

DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 Wrote:Are you asking about the silicone exhaust coupler? The item that is zip tied onto the outside of the exhaust? I was talking about the gasket that is on the one piece pipe (JP1, JP2) It was alot thinner than the one on my RB 063 pipe. This is the one that goes inside the pipe where the header and pipe meets.

Tex, you are running the TRX big block header and the stock pipe with the drilled stinger, correct?

So I need to get a BB header and drill my stinger for the TZ right?
What size drill bit so you guys use, I can take it to work and use the drill press.

be careful drilling out the stinger as that changes the backpressure and can sometimes hurt performance instead of enhance it

Do as he said above, go one size up. AND watch the baffle inside the pipe, if you go too deep you'll hit it. Just go as deep as you have to to get the job done.
I have no idea if a drilled stinger is better than stock, I had mine drilled before I even bought a TZ. Hey Dirk, did you get the EB modded version?

yeah just go one size up from what the stinger is now and watch the baffle inside the pipe.
Hey Dirk, do you have the EB modded version?

Tex, no I just got the non modded TZ, this is my first Rodeo in production MT.......baby steps....lol
If I like it, then I'll get an EB one Thanks for the tips on drilling the stinger, I have two stockers here now so if one messes up no big deal.

Saw a pic of Slaydens Revo and he was running a side exhaust..any body know what pipe and header he was using? I assume it would be some sort of on-road pipe set up?

I forget where I saw the post. But I am sure you can find it at the traxxas boards. But he took a 4-tec header(I think, not 100%) and cut off the tip(cause it was for side exhaust) and he welded on a round tip(think from a OS) to fit the 3.3
I am not 100% sure on those parts. But he did do it that way to make it work.

I wonder if this would fit?
It's for the LD3 and TC3, clearance might be an issue though.
