I stop at Old Orchard during test drives with one of the other guys from work. They know there stuff there...
I'll have to check out that place Rocco.

Yeah. Alan is a family friend of ours. I try to give him as much bussiness as possible, and the discounts he gives me usually help also, LOL

You ever use that stuff called "Purple up" ?
10-02-2006, 10:29 PM
It helps purple algae grow on the rock and helps fuse the rock together. It's suppose to maintain calcium levels in the tank also. Ill try to find a link.

If you do decide to use it, I should tell ya that it makes your water VERY milky looking for about an hour or more.

Ooo, interesting, I'll ask Alan about it next time I go in. For now, I'll do an all natural approach

ok question...
I see the term nano tank. I assume its a smaller tank made for salt water tanks. How big are these tanks (gallons and inches), Rich like yours? I have a 55 gallon long tank with a solid oak cabinet. Its too big for anywhere in my house right now. I have always wanted a salt tank. What is a guesstimate to start up one. Not including fish etc. Tank, lights, gravel (sand) rocks, etc.

George, mine is a 24 gallon Nano Cube made by JBJ. It's cool because for a beginner, it's has everything you to get started.

Rich is that what you have? The stand is included? How much is the sand rocks, salt to get started up... Is this going to be a 500 start up or more like a grand?

Stand is not included. that cost 90 bones.
Sand not sure because mine came with. Lights are included minus the moon lights. Rock cost me 140.00 and about 30 bucks for RO water and anothe r14 for salt mix.
10-03-2006, 10:39 AM
Yup thats the one I got
10-03-2006, 10:49 AM
Thanks Rich..
Like i said my interest is really peaked on this... Think the daughter would like it to... Was searching a bunch of forums, but man it gets confusing quick with all the different stuff needed. I thik I need to do to a LFS and get some info. I like the sounds of the finnex 22 gallon, but it sounds like there are alot of lighting features to figure out and stuff.... And like every forum someone hates one brand and bad mouths it while other praise it....

I like to read http://www.nano-reef.com
Main reason was to get something like that for my son to watch. He's already digging just looking at the tank. Wife likes it also... Keeps her off my back =P. There's a couple of options to go with. Nanocube seemed to be the best one IMO. Early models have leak issues, but from what I've read, that has been taken care of. Good luck. |
