Here's something I wrote after round 2 of the RCPro Series. Thought you guys would get a kick out of it.
"No Love for the Gate of Hell"
"Joe Torres!! What’s up you Mexican son-of-a bitch!?" the large white man said. "Not Much, you big smelly, nasty, greasy, inbred, hotdog neck, sweat pants wearing, yellow-hammer Bastard!" I Replied fast. "Still got the kind words I see, huh bean smasher?!" he said. "Yeah!! But im all out of beans and I’m gonna smash your freaking!"..........foot steps coming up behind me at a very fast rate of pace, get the knife ready Joe and go to work, I thought. As I turned around I see John Young coming straight at this dude ready to do damage. "What the hell did you just say to Joey mofo!? Johnny asked. "Dang man I’m just playing around. Just trying to give Joe something to write about, that’s all!" he said trembling with fear. I turned around and walked away. He was right. I had nothing. No dirt, no drama, no fights, nothing. I had no material to work with and this poor bastard is about to get his sweat pants wrapped around his neck. I could hear him begging Johnny to release his choke hold. "Joe please! Tell him to stop" he said faintly. "oh yeah, that’s good Johnny. Make him beg some more will ya." I said. Ha Ha Ha!
RC Pro-Series North Round 2 at Hardesty's Raceway.
After two months of anticipation, the RC Pro-Series came to the totally new with good attitude and race ready facility, Hardesty's Raceway in Hamlet, IN. There has been much speculation about how Hardesty's raceway was able to get another chance to host another RC Pro-series event after the dust filled nightmare that gave the track alot of negative feedback last year. Because of the bad dirt, bad attitudes and lack of track maintenance, Hardesty's was hit with a low attendance of out of town racers vowing never to return next year if things did not change. Heavy traffic by the Indiana/IL border didnt help the situation either.
Well its a new season, and its a new Hardesty's Raceway. From the start, Max and Co have been on the ball doing everything they can to reinvent the place and bring it back to how it was years before. The hard work has paid off in a big way as many have posted great feedback and praise. Nothing short of excellent. Not many Tracks have everything that Hardesty's offers in terms of need. A hobbyshop, track food, I mean Good track food too, a shaded drivers stand, camping, washrooms, Good announcing, water, you name it. Its all there.
I dwelled on what to write during the drive home and was totally lost. This was by far the best ran Major race I have been to. Friday Practice went perfect, the card system is the only way togo when hosting a large number of racers. Lee did an excellent job of keeping everything running super smooth and on time. There was absolutely nothing wrong with practice, it was perfect. I could only hope more races follow suit and adopt this kind of practice. A very much deserved A+ for the perfect practice session. Good job Crew.
Many that attended Round one will forever remember the 3:30am nightmare due to poor Qualifier scheduling that happened at CRCRC. It was enough to make me to pull a Bob Toby and pack it up forever. Not this time, we got done by 10:30 in good fashion. This is early for such a turnout of this capacity . The program was run smooth, fast, and right on time. All four rounds to be exact. A+ again. You guys had your Shite together that’s forsure.
Sunday Mains followed in the same right on time manner. We were all done by 6:30pm. Again ran perfect and again A+ for running a tight program. Im still shocked by how good this event was. I have nothing here so bare with me will I brain storm. ....................?????????????????????................................
"I once was blind, but now I see."
As far as I’m concerned nothing is ever perfect in the racing world. NOTHING. I’m known for telling it like it is and for how I see things. Not much gets by me, unless its Chris Arnold in my heat that I pretty much dominated from the start, Suckas!!! Yeah!! Ok here we go.....
Upon arriving to the track, I wanted to check out the layout. Low and behold it looked very familiar to me. I already had an edge against the competition. How? Because I knew the layout without even having to set my car down and walk up the drivers stand. Why? Because I am one with the force? Nope. Im really that good? Hell no. Because I have seen this layout before? Yep. How? This was the exact same layout for the Hardesty's raceway track opener. The same with a dip added. Me along with many others knew this layout and had an edge over everyone else. Why? I don’t know why. Maybe a loophole in the rules. This should have not been allowed and a whole NEW layout made for a fair race. Something to think about. Not good.
The Gate does very crazy things to the simple mind of a human being. Its evil in a sense that it brings Madness to some and makes most of us seek solitude from a beer bottle. Comfort to settle the rage within. The gate is evil. It makes some of us want to quit racing, some drive like a dirty bastard, some go and seek out the best Margarita this side of the great Mississippi. Nothing but Madness from the gate of hell. It turns a good driver bad, and a bad driver worse. If these cars could bleed, it would be a blood bath. A one foot wide car and a ten foot wide lane and there still is not enough room to pass. Clean or Dirty, a pass is a pass from the gates of hell. Some do get lucky when they can get away from the Carnage though. If you were lucky enough like me in my last heat to get away from it all, then you should know it is a very rare feat and skill has nothing to do with. Luck is what you seek and alcohol is your best friend now. The time goes buy so slow with gate started heats that the anger just builds on the unlucky ones and something is needed to calm the nerves.
By the time the racing was over for the evening, built up frustration set in to the camp. I dont know what it is, but when the moon comes out, people start to lose there manners. The final heat of the night was filled with madness. Three drunks marshaling a corner did not hear a car flipped over, the car died, and the rules are now changed. No More drinking during race time. Another incident was when the race was over. Somebody tried to kill Dave Mettetal by pushing him down the stairs. WTF. Then an argument in the pits about somebody not turning over somebody’s car fast enough. You guys need to chill the phuck out. This is racing and this is normal in the racing world. Nothing will ever be perfect and things happen. I know first hand it sucks, but after round one, I have accepted whatever happens happens for no reason. We really need to get along in order to have a good time. No BS.
I had a great time and Very happy I went. I raced good for once and laid it down KING style. Very nice seeing some of the racers I hadn’t seen in awhile and good meeting the new. This was a great event and I applaud all who made this event a success. Good Job guys.
No hard feelings and as always when you see me, I will greet you with a hand shake and say hello with a smile. (until you turn your back) ;]
