I'd love to get it ready before wednesday but I am not sure what time I will be back in town. It'd be great to test it on the track.

HobbyshopNewjersey takes paypal as does cripsy critters in NJ
They both are authorized dealers for UE products. http://www.hobbyshopnj.com http://www.crispycrittershobbyshop.com

what causes the pins in the cvd's to come out. I was installing them in my wasp maxx and I noticed one that had what appeared to be a loose pin. Its the only one that wants to slide out. I was going to use these instead of the REVO axles just to see it I liked them.

just bought a set of limiters from crispy. they don't seem to appreciate what UE is doing to their prices. They are offering items less than what their distributors are paying for it, so I was told. I almost bought them directly from UE but they don't take paypal and crispy was only $1 more and they do, so it was easy to decide.
Oh yeah, that lucky son of a gun told me he races a razorback....thats rough.

these are MIP CVD's? or UE's? there is a difference but I'm guessing they are MIP's because I used to have issues with MIP's pins walking out.
There is a set screw that holds that pin in. Its probably loose. To get to it you have to fully angle the u joint and rotate the cvd until you see it. its real small. if the pin keeps walking out even with red locktight pull the set screw and lightly scuff up (with sand paper or a quick dremel grinding) the end that touches the pin and even do that to the pin very lightly. degrease the pin and setscrew good and reinstall them using a little red locktight on the setscrew. it should not come apart after that. Exploded view and instructions here.. http://www.miponline.com/instmxcvd.html I'd go through and do that to all of them to be sure they don't work free.

I believe two of the guys from Crispy Critters race Razors.
Aldo and Slimbo (name from the UE board) Aldo also does some wicked paint jobs

I didnt really understand what you meant by "they don't seem to appreciate what UE is doing to their prices. "
08-31-2004, 12:43 AM
I think he meant that UE is charging the distributers more for the parts than what they offer them for on their site.
08-31-2004, 08:11 AM
yup.

ahh ok.....
thanks

yeah ue charges the official distrubitor a pretty penney making it super expensive to buy UE stuff at an LHS... but just about gives away the stuff to hobbyshopnj and crispycritters which ue deals with directly. its a weird way to do things but thost 2 hobby shops get 90% of the US sales making them money.

but Crispy Critters were the ones complaining. This is contradicting
08-31-2004, 11:44 AM
Maybe Aldo isnt getting a good deal on UE stuff then. You'd think he was getting the stuff cheaper, but who knows............I do know that he does have a Razor that he was racing, as does Slimbo who also works at Critters.

If all my plans go as expected, there might be a UE dealer on the Northside Chicago next year
Then I'll know what the mark-up is on the stuff if I get a deal.
08-31-2004, 11:48 AM
hmmm. mabey crispy isn't getting a good deal then.. I bet hobbyshopnj gets the stuff dirt cheap and crispy is just taking a loss on his UE sales to keep up.

Yessa, I've been looking at possible sites and talking to banks, distributors and of course the wife since late Feb about it. I just have to wait for a bit and figure out what to do about insurance. But Mid 05 is looking like its gonna happen. I got this one place picked out, talking with the owner about leasing, but I'd like to find something where I could have some sort of track near-by. There's no Hobby shop in Chicago on the North side, so I think I'd do pretty good business wise.
Hobbytown Niles is the closest and they suck.

Sweet.... Good luck in the business venture, I'm sure you'll have some business from our group...
08-31-2004, 01:14 PM
wow.. very cool. yeah you are right there are no hobby shops in that area worth mentioning. I stoped in that hobby shop there when I was visiting a friend in that area and HTN sucks big time. that would be cool as heck to eventually have a track too.
hehe.. I know a guy that could help ya work your hobby shop part time. now the important part.. what are you going to name it?

heheh......funny, I was thinking about offering you a job there if you were still having trouble finding a full-time job. At first, I'd still be working my job and would hire a Manager type person to run it while I'm at my job.
08-31-2004, 01:18 PM
I got some ideas for a name, but won't out anything in stone till I ready to apply for my license.
Anyone got some ideas? I might throw in some cool stuff once I open if I use the name. =)
08-31-2004, 01:30 PM
its not that I 'm having trouble.. it just every time things slow down and I start to look for a regular full time job I get some killer painting job come my way. I would for sure help out at the hobby shop. I think it would be cool.
hmmm.. names. that is a tough one.

ok here are some new pics. I tried six's info but without a body it still looks like a maxx. I should have used a higher resolution as well but I did not want to have to resize them later. oh well here you go.
I think it turned out pretty sweet, I fell in love with that center skid the second I saw it.........definately had to have it, although I will change out the standard hex head bolts for rounded ones as I bet the originals will cause hangups. |
