congrats freeride. Once you figure out the bugs on your truck your gonna see just how much fun of a truck it can be for bashing and racing.

I don't like bugs... what should I look for first/upgrade first? And lets say I have drive problem... how in the hell would I be able to tell (if it were electrical) if it was the reciever, the opti drive, the... blah, blah ,blah. There is so many wires in there I was shocked. And how relieable is the stock opti drive?

All I can say so far is that I love it. The only problem that I had was it flooding a couple of times and fouling a plug before the first startup. After that the first tank and a half (had to go to work) have gone flawlessly with the exception of the oil drops on the driveway. :-) I love the suspension and cant wait to take advantage of it. If I am going to be bashing/jumping I should put the long travel rockers on right and save the shorts for the track??

stock rockers work extremely well. Only thing i would use the LT rockers for is just rock crawling.

How well does it crawl without changin diff fluid or putting spools on?? Can I get away with stuff that isn't too technical with the stock wetup + LT rockers or do I need to have a setup closer to the revo rocks project??

Nice. Thanks. I can't wait to finish up the break in tomorow. I started with foil on the head today because it was quite cold out... what temps should I be looking for during breakin?? I richined it a bit from factory because it was hitting 270 or so and lowered the idle... just not to clear on the traxxas breakin. I know I am at least sticking to the throttle part and it hasnt temped above 275. (thank god... I think this is still high for breakin)

temps should be minimum of 200 for break in. If its 275 thats way to high.

That's what I figured... I said it tapped 275 so I think I'm ok. After that I richened it a bit, lowered the idle, and pulled the foil. I was running at about 230 or so then.

275 is not too high for a 2.5 during break in. It really depends on how much throttle you were giving it. If you were idling or slowly driving around and it's at 275, then yes that's too high.
A tight (new) piston/sleeve will create more friction (ie, more heat). After the first couple quarts of fuel your temps will seem to drop 20-30F

most nitro engines will do well in the 200-300F range. The more you keep it towards the 200F mark the longer the p/s will last.

I've seen EB P5's running at 260F during break in due to the super tight p/s fit.

That's also why the Traxxas break-in directions suggest body off..to keep it cooler at first.
