Another quick question... Can I run stock size maxx wheels without a problem?? or will they rub?
Reply
#28
They'll be fine without using LT rockers.

Ok so with the LT they will rub?? I guess that is not a problem. They will be for bashing and seeing that all I do with the LT's is crawl and bottom the thing out over 1 1/2 foot drops I think I will be switching to an aluminum p2 rocker setup fairly soon. If I want to set that up as my all around setup that will handle well on and off of the track what springs and shock oil will I want to pair with the P2's?? I don't want to have to buy them all to try... Thanks.

You could stick with stock springs and just mess around with different shock weights.
50 frt and rear is a good place to start. You can tweak it after that.

allright. I don't remember what it comes with stock. 40 maybe? But I know that they have different pistons in them. (The hole sizes inside)

Stock should come with 50 weight in them with number 2 pistons all the way around.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong. But I almost sure thats what they come out of the box.

I will check tomorrow. The manual is in the garage and its too cold and wet to motivate me to go get it. It might be 50 wt but I think that the pistons are different. I think the rear are #2 and the front are whichever is faster $1 or #3... I cant remember. Like I said I will look tommorrow.

stock is 30 weight oil all around the truck in diffs and shocks. For shocks they come with #1 pistons up front and #2 in the rear. Diffs are 30 for both.

so michowski... if I am switching to p2s should I leave the stock setup everywhere else, change to 50 wt (or something else), or what do you reccomend??

for just general bashing i would say 30 is good, thats also what im currently running. If your gonna be doing a lot of jumping 40 or 50 weight.

Would 30 be ok for the track too?? Or would I want to slow it down a bit with a 40 or 50 there too?

I run 40wt all around with stock pistons. Springs are orange F/gold R

you have to figure out on your own what works for you at the track. I can run 30 weight up to 60 weight just fine. Some people like to keep a really stiff suspenion to make it quicker to react while others like it more loose to get ever bumps and rough spots better. Its trail and error to figure out what you like at the track.

My apologies if I missed someone else giving this answer.

FRJ, if you are looking at Maxx wheels, there are different offsets (they vary like 1/2") that if you use them on the Revo it makes it wider than stock. Just watch which wheels you select. But the hex for mounting is the same (14mm).

http://www.Prolineracing.com has a great wheel guide page that has dimensions and drawings of the wheels that fit as "stock" for Maxx, Revo, etc.

I am picking up 3 sets of tires and one set of stock maxx wheels from a member on here. Those are the ones I was wondering about. If it is a little wider that is ok. If I buy new wheels/tires in the future they will be 40 series. I just need these for bashing right now.

please note, 40's are not good for racing 90% of the time, so if you plan to race buy standard size. The 40's are unstable and unpredictabe on most tracks unless the track it relly bumpy and rutted out. This is just my experience with them. You will have faster lap times with the standards at tracks around here. If you are just planning on bashing, buy what you like.

edit relly = really

Your turning also will suffer with 40 series tires. Noticed that right away with 40's
