The Vantage chassis is plenty strong...there are alot of misconceptions about the strength of Carbon Fiber. The biggest advantage is weight...but that can also prove to be a disadvantage. My CF chassis Revo was way too light to handle the rough sections, and there are also class/weight restrictions for series races. I believe Tex had to actually add weight to his ext.alum chassis Revo to make it legal for RCPS.

he only had to add weight if he wanted to race a big block in his truck. Since he went to a small block his truck was fine. For the chassis, I cant justify spending 160 dollars on it when the traxxas extended chassis is roughly 40 bucks. Its slightly more weight but nothing to cause you to win or lose a race.

But the extended area is in a different place. People at the traxxas forums are already saying it has helped with the front end weight and cornering.

if you didnt take the time to center your truck or at least balance it then what do you expect? Everytime I put a new mod on my truck that was the first thing I did. Sat there and placed everything and then balanced it from the front to the rear and then side to side so both sides and both ends were pretty close to even. They will never be exact but as long as you have a level flying truck off the jumps you'll be fine.

Not trying to sound rude or put the chassis down but IMO some people just expect every little thing to be perfect from the second they get it and expect it to do what they want. As long as you take the time to build it right the first time then there isnt a need for all these upgrades. I went upgrade crazy on my truck but because I couldnt properly balance the truck with everything I went back to mostly stock parts. My truck was actually stronger once I started going back to stock parts. Sry for ranting on but im only talking from experience.

Skillz is what wins races, not hopups.

Me and Tune were talking about taking my all stock t-maxx to leisure to race the MT class one day and spank almost everyone with it. Just to show that hop-ups and certain trucks aren't what makes you win. Skillz is the key.

Just like center diffs does not make a big difference in a revo. The top two guys at the pro series at Leisure (Bobbo and I) where both running standard transmissions, everyone else had a center diff in their revo. Some of the dudes were proven good racers at RCPS events as well. We still spanked 'em

And remember that adding weight can be in the form of wheel/tire choice. Sprung versus unsprung weight makes differences in the acceleration and handling of any vehicle. I don't recall anyone commenting on Tex's RCPS truck setup, but didn't he run Maxx width Bowties?

I had a SB motor so I could have an overall weight of 6lbs if I wanted. If I ran a BB, like my old P5 I would have had to be at least 9.5lbs.

I ran classic BT's because the bigger tire tends to settle the revo for added stability. The smaller tires (like boas) make the truck to "jerky" or basically like a squirel on crack. That does not make laptimes faster.

On a high bite surface like the indoor track I use boas because of the amount of traction available. I can run small tires indoor and still keep the truck under control ok. Although the bigger tires indoor does allow me to hold tighter lines and be more consistant.

Hey Revo owners! Doesn't the manual state that the diffs are oil filled with 30,000wt? I just opened up mine and found black grease! Now maybe through the magic of operation the diff oil was converted to grease? Or does Traxxas have a grease equivalent of 30k oil?

Bogus if they claim oil filled when they are not!

they say its supposed to be filled stock with 30k but 99% of the truck dont have any. I have no idea what the black grease is about.

All the ones I've had have been filled w/ oil....couldn't say if it was 30k..but it was diff oil not black grease....strange

Maybe the one I've opened used to have oil, but now is a mix of oil , dirt and plastic dust, that resembles grease?

Is it thick & smeary like grease or similar in consistancy to diff oil?

The one I bought from Obsessive had nothing in the front diff, don't who was at fault, (most likely me or Traxxas, sounds like Obsessive knows his stuff.) but it didn't really do any damage to it, it just was harder to turn.

Dave are talking right when you crack the two halves open or when you take the diff cup off the ring gear? The black grease goes on the big ring gear and the oil goes in the cup.

I Found That In The Diff Housing If You Use 100k In The Ring It Will Make The Diff Function A Hole Lot Better, That "black" Oil Is 30k Silcone That They Use In The Factory, Not Good For Heavy Racing Due To The Fact That It Breaks Down Way To Fast Under Heat

I dont seeing oil in my diff's either. But then again. They have been known to leak out also. So that could have happened also over time.
I remember seeing the shafts around the diff housing looking like oil was leaking from them before I changed mine out.

I plan to try and make it out on sunday to race with the Revo. That is if we race indoor. Seeing a temp in the low-mid 50's and rain. Even if no rain,I would have to pass on the temps LOL.
