Bearings and Shocks ??
#1
Two questions.

First the shocks.
On my neighbors Savage 25 we took a shock off to fix a boot
coming loose. We decided to see what the fluid looked like and if it needed cleaning.

I noticed the the fluid level was down about a 1/4 from the top.
Is this normal for these shocks or should it have more in there?

Next question
Bearings
CB bearings to be exact.
I have been looking around on the net.
What do you guys use for CB bearings and where do you buy them?

For the bearings
go to avidrc.com for the bearings, getthe revolutions. $1.00 a piece and they are metal shielded on 1 side and rubber shielded on the other. Great bearings.

I am sure some other savage owners will chime in, but I fill all my shocks to just under the top of the body of the shock

Those savage shock bodies are plastic, I found that to be odd on a truck like that. I allways had leaky shocks on my savage. It may be time for a rebuild, or you may want to carefully put a thin strip of teflon tape around the cap threads. That improved the problem for me, tho they still weeped a tad.

For the clutch bearings, the best luck I've had is with the racers-edge 10 pack of metal shielded for $13.99.

its not uncommon to have it down a 1/4. if its gray, def time to replace the oil. get all the old out completly so it doesnt infect the new stuff.

avids all the way.

What are some thoughts on the ceramic bearings from BOCA?

Or shal I say Hybrid Bearings over steel bearings?
Polyamide vs rubber?

I have been to AVID and saw those yellow ones. Those are metal on one side and rubber on the other. So which side goes which way on the CB? From my understanding is the yellow side towards the motor body and the other one facing outward

metal side to the heat, rubber out.

Dont even bother with ceramics, in offroad racing u could not possibly notice any difference and they dont last much longer than revolutions. David Joor tested some ceramics and he said he only gained about 500 rpms of the start...
