george,
it ran very smoothly and was a great time. i left after the 2nd qualifier as the little J was starting to get tired. wanted to say congrats to you and your wife on the baby. hope everything is going good and is healthy. give me a shout sometime.

Great times for sure! I was blessed with not having any problems this time and ran pretty good, better then last time anyway.
I qualified 8th in UL M/T, there were about 27 or so trucks, 10 in the A-main all with-in 25 seconds apart, with the exception of Sonny who had a extra lap on all of us! In the end I came home with a 3rd place trophy though! :joy: Thanks to the guys who made it all happen again, it ran nice and smooth as usual, thanks to John B for the glow plug, and a big thanks to Gabe for the quick pit stops, if it weren't for you I probably would have ran out of fuel because I couldn't hear how much time was left!

I think there were 19 in standard MT... some broke out...

I had a great time too . I learned not to change to a tottalllllly new set up before a big race! LOL! For awhile i was on tq pace but just couldnt quite tie the loose endes up in MT. Ohhh well 7th place after a 4 minute stop due to a loose tie rod isnt that horrible...
As for UMT i felt real good about my chances of bumping to the "Show" from the B but after tangling with my buddy (my fault) my servo saver broke and my LSP was a ship without a rudder! LOL! so i was out early and my race night was over, but , " I'LL BE BACK"

The guy with the orange Revo with Wabashes was from Peoria, and the father/son were from WI. The son was wearing a light tan fleece jacket, and the Dad had a Revo with lightning bolts on a dark blue body. The Dad was A Main standing next to me.
Lots of fast Revo's there today. Some were even bone stock, like Rusty's! Good drivers.

I must have picked up the blue revo with the lightning on it about 4 times total of it dieing throughout the day. The guy with a yellow wing and stock revo body was pretty quick.

I think the blue revo that your talking about was mine, My glow plug kept on blowing engine wasnt tuned right.

I really handled the rough sections well, almost truggy-like! I never got to talk to the driver.

I felt bad for some people there with what looked like new trucks. The one guy with the new savage that broke his pull start and then another guy with what looked like a new Revo, he tried everything to get it to start. I let him use my blow dryer but that did not help. I asked if he would like me to try to start it but...
It's cold enough out in the track area to make starting without a box difficult sometimes.

:o: That's right... this is the 14th thread not the 15th. Well good to hear that you got out anyway... you can only get better now.

FreeRideJunkie Wrote::o: That's right... this is the 14th thread not the 15th. Well good to hear that you got out anyway... you can only get better now.OH No, I can get worse! Just put more trucks on the track !!!
01-16-2006, 10:53 AM
:bustingup LMAO!!! I have got to say that is where a great pit guy helped me a lot. I did my best to look ahead of my truck but he was almost always able to give a quick shout up about a few tanglet MT's that I could scoot around. It REALLY helped. All I can say is more track time. I was watching Mike run his Buggy A-main and he could scoot through everything. I imagine that it is just a great sense of depth perception from running for a few years now. That damn kid is my idol now.

Looking ahead is tough! especiall the back straight....I nearly t-boned a flipped over truck because all I could "see" was the bottom of the chassis. I went right by him thankfully or we both would have been finished!
I thought protocol was to yell out "straightaway" if you were stalled or flipped on the straights?
01-16-2006, 11:56 AM
it is... people forget...
traffic... it is somthing you will gain with experience. 80% of me is concentrating on the car the other 20 is watching for visual cues of a problem. marshall on the move.... someone on the stand either sayin profanity (yea right, that dont happen ) or setting the controller on the rail for a few seconds indicates that hes upside down. on the straights as soon as i get on and straight i glance as quick as i can down the whole thing. infield i use my perrifial ( i cant spell )vision. i dont usually drag someone either on the straight... ill back pedal just enuf so were not side by side.
01-16-2006, 11:59 AM
+1 on the drag racing! I'd rather stay out of that cuz either way I lose!
01-16-2006, 12:02 PM
your not a real racer untill you run a drag race down the straight with sonny and pass his 350 dollar engine with your 200 dollar .18 jk lol.
01-16-2006, 12:09 PM
I might pass someone, and then those brakes/blocks come into play!
