18t fix for steering?
#1
Whenever I steer one way, the servo goes too far, making the servo saver go into action. Sure, that's great and all, but the spring doesn't bounce back and then the steering counters it self, and the truck goes the opposite way instead of straight (if I turn full lock right, then let it go to neutral, the wheels go slightly left instead of straight. If I go full lock left, and let off, the tires go right.) I know it's not the trim etc....I just need a good way to keep the servo saver, but to make it work well.

cut the botton coil off a shock spring that is slightly smaller than the C spring on the servo saver. Then cut a slight channel with a dremel aorund the c spring and wrap the cut coil from the shock spring around the C cpring.

You can see what I mean in this pic. The bright orange ring around the servo saver is actually the bottom coil off a stiff mini-t spring I had around.

This is probably super overpriced but I'll probably buy it lol....

yeah it helps a ton. It makes the servo saver a lot stiffer. that overpriced spring you posted fomr ebay will do the exact same thing as wraping a coil form a shock spring around the servo saver.

For servos most go with the Hited HS56hb, the airtronics 94091Z, or the HS81MG (<-- has to be permenantly glued to the chassis thouhg)

The Airtronics servo has a good servo saver available for it. I've also been hearing this servo saver has been working well for people and its specificallt made for the RC18..

Is 18oz of torque enough!? That's all the airtronics one has, the first one doesn't look like it'll work, because of where the tabs are....

And the other hitec one, it has to use the stock servo saver? And also then if I got that one then I'd have to get the adapter kit so the servo horn fits....Correct?

And by gluing it to the chassis, will servo tape work? Or do I have to do something stronger like JB Weld etc? Thanks for all the help so far.

matt the hitec 56 hb has plenty of power for the 18t larry has one and it works fine.

I have the HS56 in my 18t.. it works frine. 16inoz of torque is more than enough. Associated has a kit for the HS56hb servo that has mounts, servo saver, and full instructions. its part #21049.

Servo tape will work on the HS81MG but from what I've read and seen it will come loose after a little because of all the torque and movement of the servo. You have to cut off all the tabs from the HS81mg to get it to mount in the RC18.

I don't know all about the Airtornics servo. I just hear that people like the servo and it is a good replacement servo.

Ok, sounds like I'll get the first hitec servo (uh oh) and the kit to mount it...And that clip thing off ebay cause I'm too cheap. Err wait how much are mini-t springs for 2?
