FreeRideJunkie Wrote:What break-in method are you using?? The traxxas one or the traditional heat cycle?? Has anyone seen a wear difference using either method on the 2.5?? I know I broke mine in the traxxas way for the first time and havve so far had great results...
Every engine manufacturer has their own "Proven" Method of Break-in, but for the most part, the Heat Cycling method has seemed to be the best overall.
I'm sure that Mich is using the Heat cycle method.

I'm just glad he went with the unreliable 2.5, i have a better chance of winning when he flames out all the time.hehehe

you'll all probly slaughter me anyway no matter what motor i got. Im out of practice so its anyones games. Hopefully i can get enough fuel through the motor tho for it to be decently broken in were i can lean it out. This os carb really dropped the temps compared to the previous 2.5 i had.

2.5r is a great motor when it runs right. Thats why ill probably be going with a tz or another tm soon.

better get a bunch of those motors. They wear out very fast. Most if not all the pro racers are going back to the 2.5 as well. just something to think about

lots of people are ditching the .18's. Just not a long lasting motor and at 200 bucks a pop you can be running the 2.5 which has just about the same power but will last twice as long as the os motor's.

I am almost convinced to just keep running the 2.5. Most likely it will be that or the XTM motor. I can't see dropping $200+ on an overpowered BB right now...

plus you can buy 2 2.5's for the price of one os motor so your getting like 12 gallons between the 2 2.5's compared to 3 or 4 gallons from the one os for the same price.

back to the trusty 2.5r. 2.5 holds a great tune, runs really strong, and overall is an awesome motor. I liked the os because of the low end snap that thing had but il just have to get used to the 2.5 again. Still tons of bottom end so we'll see how it goes.
