And finally the truth is revealed.......I was being glib about how crappy Revo's are because we always make it a R vs S arguement. I never meant to suggest anything about you or your skills because I have never even met you or seen you drive but can conclude from everything I have read that you are an excellent racer. So my point was, even though I know George was poking fun at you getting a Revo, why would you??? Your driving and Savage truck setup have you being very competative already. IF you wanted to go faster in MT would a Revo do it for you? Try Ryan's truck and find out I guess.
You already have the LSP and are working on making it the best UMT you can, so like Joe points out, why hang around the lower class (MT)? Get an 1/8 scale buggy and say goodbye to the trucks, except for the Bashes.
BTW, I voted that you should buy something else (buggy). I knew it all along.
ps: forget everyone else's opinions and do what makes you happy. That's all that matters. And have fun doing it.
Sincerely,
Dave

That's why I stick to SMT, that's what makes ME happy. I don't stay there because I dominate, because that simply isn't true. I won for the first time EVER at LHR this past weekend, and that's because there was only a couple guys there that were truely "fast". I haven't master this game yet so why move on?
I think Rocco's next step in SMT would be to go with a different truck, whether it be LST, revo, whatever... He has mastered that Savage and can drive it very well but it only gets him mid pack A-main (sometimes B-main), which means he hasn't mastered that class yet either. Until he starts winning on a steady basis it's not master and some work still needs to be done.

I know were i came from, just making it a point that i wasnt giving people crap for what they did wether it was racing or bashing. But you can email me if you want or just drop it. Lets stay on topic now.
Rocco get the revo. Pro series is comming up and theres gonna be a lot of competition there and i think with the revo you can be a top contender.

Tex, I kinda figured you would disagree with me, I'm sure there are others that do also. But you cant argue with the facts. You finish in the top 5 all the time, and your revo looks great on the track and keeps up with any UMT out there. You can play the "where you came from" theme till your blue in the face, but the fact is thats where everybody started at in this hobby. I used to bash too and raced a t-MAXX, but lets face the truth here. MT and UMT's are far easier to drive and way more forgiving interms of mistakes, they are easier to recover, therefor it doesnt take a whole lot talent to look fast. Im not bassing this on BS, its my own experience in finding this. I was fast with the T-maxx, Marcel can attest to that, but when I went to buggy I had a hard time making the adjustments to control it at a competative level. It was very hard, as most guys that have made the change to scale will agree. You wouldnt know that as you stick to things that are very easy to drive on and off the race track. But you do well with it. Until you step up to scale and then you will see if you really are that good. You can drive my car and find out.

I agree with JT.
I have faster lap times with my lsp than my buggy. Reason being the lsp is set up better but is also more forgiving on the track, becasue it is wider and longer. I usually run A and B main in UMT. Buggy I am in D and E. I am getting better with buggy, but it takes alot of time, and 1 every two weeks isnt enough ( Dam Job). BUt I fell I am getting better with my scale, becasue I am seeing how small set up changes can affect the buggies performance . So now I just have to get the set up figured out and keep practicing and 1 day I may see the C Main...

I would definatly buy a scale if you didnt need to run new tires at every race. Just way to expensive for me at the time being. Im still all gung ho about getting one but new tires every race. Like 800 bucks for a kit, plus pay for electronics and motor, ect. Just way to expensive for me. I would agree with JT to a point. Each class is a different world if you ask me. Yes mt is easier to because in terms of there more forgiving on the track but try racing something with a huge cog and make make fast lap times. Race people with better skill level then you in your class and it doesnt get that easy once you get all those things together. Each class has its own easy things and difficult things and for buggy thats just a more difficult class to race because of the cars not being so forgiving. For mt it can be more of the competition that makes racing hard. At least for me and the pro series it is. I find it very challenging to race people of my skill level side by side simply because i cant predict what the other guy is gonna do and im trying to avoid him from crashing. Maybe this year I can get a scale and at least get a feal for what your talking about jt. I have no doubt racing scale is difficult to get used to and good at. Maybe il just buy a cheaper rtr buggy and at least check out the class and competition.

I've had scales.... I went back to MT. I thought the scales were actually easier to drive than a standard MT. I also had a truggy and definitely thought that was the easiest out of all of them. I also had a losi XXXNT, and I raced a jato once and took first with no practice (granted it was a DD's club race and not at Leisure).
Everyone is always going to have their own opinions on everything. I'm glad we can all share them in a civil manner.
Joe, I would love to take your K-car for a spin..... That would make my day. Heck I might even love it and want to go that route. Next time we are at LHR I'll holla at you about that (if your still down). you can take the revo out if you want ....Maybe your opinion on SMT racing will change after you realize it's not as easy as it looks.
My opinion on hardest to drive RC's goes like this, speaking from experience:
Hardest: Gas Truck
SMT
scale
Easiest: UMT
Now as far as setup goes, scale is most affected by adjustments.
I want to throw this out there...We should all be able to race whatever class we want without people looking down on certain classes, we are all friends, class raced shouldn't matter.
SMT is always looked down upon by every other class. I'm sure it's because that's where most beginners start off and they are hacks. Most of the SMT races look like demolition derby's, I understand that. BUT I really love what class I race, not because I hack, or because it's easier (in your opinion), because I just love wheeling a SMT around a track, it's fun for me. buggy wasn't as fun. The competition factor in scale is a huge plus but I just didn't enjoy rippin' it around as much (kinda boring IMO). I do want to add that I didn't race buggy very long (maybe like 4-5 races) but I felt I did get a feel for what the class was like in that amount of time.
To tell you the truth, if I had the time and money to race two classes I would still have my MBX5 and I would race that along with my Revo every weekend. I simply couldn't keep up with two classes (money wise) and I had to drop one of them, I chose to drop scale.

A MT is the biggest money pits of any class IMO. I ran a set of Crimes on my buggy outdoors for about 5 races and they were about half worn. It depends on how you drive too.

some people are good at racing in different classes, just becuase someone is good or likes racing a certain class, but doesnt do so good in another class doesnt prove that a person is "really good or not" i think it all comes down to practice and if a person feels comfortable with the R/c he or she might be racing. I think if you look at the guys that are fast, usually really know the R/c they are driving are comfortable, and practice, but that doesnt mean they will be fast in every class. I dont think anybody here makes a profit with r/c except bill gates of R/C Mike Czech lol jking , but anyways find what you feel comfortable and affordable to drive and have fun

Ryan, Waaaayy off on the tire thing, 1/8 tires are cheaper than MT tires anyday, and you could use 2 sets for the whole winter.
