That's a heavy servo! I felt Tune's and I was surprised at how heavy it was.

I'm sure the speed and power makes up for the extra 1-2 oz's of weight.

200oz of servo power.. I just don't see the point. I see no difference in between my JR590 85oz that I was running in my buggy vs the Airtronics servo that I swaped out that has 125oz of torque. I look at speed and metal gears before I look at torque ratings.

Imagine a rutted out high speed turn, that's where the extra holding power and torque come into play.

its all a personal preference. I can run the airtronics all day on any kind of track and never have a problem. Some people need to suck half there battery down with there 333oz digital servo to get what they like. Just use what works for you. I like my airtronics because its a low battery draw, has tons or speed and torque, never let me down in a race, and are just perfect for me.

My 120oz FUT 9451 never had any problems steering my MT's, so I see what Six is saying to a point.
85oz is a bit too little IMO though.

At some point in this discussion you almost have to bring up battery pack capacity, because you are sooner or later gonna be running that servo with less than full voltage, and that's when you might 'feel' a difference in servo performance. A stronger/faster servo might still give good results with a less than full charge pack during a long race. So if you don't have the best battery, you will notice it more with a slower/weaker servo, as it's performance will suffer more/sooner along with voltage drop in the pack. Y/N?

5945 is a good servo, some of the Traxxas team guys and others have used those for years (the same ones, they haven't broke yet..lol)

Here is the ting though Steering systems have servo savers... Turn your truck full lock on the controller, grab the tire with you hand and jam it the opposite direction. the servo arm won't move weather its an 85 oz or 300oz servo. Even a way tight servo saver will give before a servo looses its hold. in a rutted high speed turn the servo saver will give well before the servo does anyhitng.

imo.. The only thing a 200oz servo does is give you the ability to put a truck on the pavement sitting still and brag that you can turn the wheels full lock and give you a 1/2 hour runtime before you will need a charge. I run ancient 1100 mah packs and have never had a problem with my RX pack dieing and I'll get out and run my landmax for a couple hours in parking lots before it shows any signs of slowing.

how about this... I run $10 Ball bearing futaba servos in throttle and brake too! ~40oz of torque has always been plenty to open the throttle and lock the brakes, even in my big heavy JT. Its all about how you setup the linkages and where you attach them on the servo arm.

I have run faster higher torque servos on both throttle/brake and steering of my Rc's.. I either didn't see a good difference or didn't like the poor runtime, poor reliability (especially t/b servos that get contant loads and overheat quick) and Cost of running expensive servos.

ok I need a new steering servo for my 8-9 pound revo....and im young and have very little money.....I am running a spektrum 590 and i cant seem to make the turn for the triple at the track fast enough.

im leaning toward the JR650.....says it will last me 3 years and looks like plenty of power. I have owned one before and it seemed to work great and then it died.

so what do you guys think?

airtronics 94359z. Cost about 100 bucks but its worth saving up for. Once you get it you wont have anymore problems.

JR650z is a good choice for a budget servo. I was happy when I had one.

ive been running the 650m since x-mas and love it. in the revo with the optional servo saver spring i havent had any problems with it

ok...yeah I have had the 650 in the revo but that was before i did the steering mod on the revo....so looks like thats the servo im getting
