Mugen Seiki MST-1
#1
I have edited this post.

I am thinkin about getting a Mugen MST-1 stadium truck (my other choice is a Jato). I know Tex mentioned that he thought it was great. I was wondering if anyone else had experience with Mugen Seiki products. My main concern is parts availability. If I break something how hard will it be to find the part?

I found the MST-1 kit at http://www.rcplanet.com/mugen_mst_1_stad...8_prd1.htm for $169.95, needs 2 channel radio, 2 servos, Receiver, Battery, Body Paint, .12 Engine, Manifold, Muffler, and Starter box.

I'm not happy with my RC10GT, another $300-350 to make it the way I want it with a DSM controller. If I can get $200-$250 for my GT I'll have $425-$475( I got some extra cash recently) which leaves enough for a pretty good engine and the spektrum DX2 radio system and extra parts and new tools.

I need to add to this. I am also considering the Jato. The reasons are parts availability, hop-ups, etc. But I would need to probably sell some stock parts to get it where I want it. I would sell the TRX 2.5 to get a .12. So on and so forth.

Pros and cons of Jato VS. Mugen MST-1? Anyone?

I want to add....I've never owned a MST-1, I've only seen 'em at the tracks. I have owned a couple mugen buggies and the quality was good IMO.

Internet avalability of parts is decent...local support is usually lacking. I've owned two Mugen R/C's and really liked them both. Very high quality vehicles.

I've looked and have found that their parts are not easy to get through third part suppliers. especially for that truck. I like its layout, from what I can see from the photographs. The Jato was top until I saw the price, 170.00 is good for a kit and I can add my own radio setup. But traxxas had the parts and there are aftermarket parts available too. So I value your guys opinion, tough choice. Do you guys have an opinion on the jato?

The MST-1 is a good truck. I know that nirtohouse.com has them for like $129 for a NIB kit, buy 2 of them for your parts and I know that Al's stocks parts also, but if it was me, I would buy 3 kits for that price and not worry about parts for a long time. Good truck tho, better than a GT I think.

The Jato is a cool truck but I'd rather have the Mugen, or a Losi....personally

IMO for never owning either... I would get the Jato as a basher and the MST-1 for a racer or overall. It looks like a great truck at a great price. With more and more people looking at them I think parts can only become easier to get...

I'm wondering if you hop it up (the Jato) with racing components and a better radio system and make it legal, how would it perform vs other Racing stadium trucks?
