Yep, I do remember that lesson from earlier discussions, it's just that I SUCK at doing ANY fine shadowing right now.
There's like one good one on the whole car (under one of the side purple scallops), the rest are pathetic.
I used superthinned fastint for all of it. I should have gone dark green on the side shadows, but I was being lazy. I really need to work on width and shape of the shadow lines, too. But practice time is hard to come by, but I need it.
After looking at this design after it was done, I really decided that it looked better on paper than on the body. The elements are too disconnected, almost like the hood "bird" on a TransAm. It doesn't flow. I need to work on that, but I hate to keep drawing stuff that looks like anybody else's work. I'm struggling to find "my style". Back to the sketch pad!

If you were going for a traditional drop shadow then I guess it was overdone. I actually thought you were trying to make it overdone like that and I kind of liked the look that it came out with. Yo usay that it doesn't flow well (maybe the hood with the rest of the body? ) But I am still a fan of the sides and trunk.

All of my purples do that & also the dark blues lighten up drastically...
I know the flash brings out the blue pearls in the paint...

Dave, why didn't you paint the rest of the body like you did on the wing?
That is really cool looking, even though you shadow are a little high, it still looks great.

Truth be told, I did drop shadows around the drips, but when I painted the purple, they got "swallowed up". Sam in the blue area. I guess shadows for dark purple/blues need to be very heavy to show up????
I just messed around on the wing, figuring if it turned out too crummy I could just leave it off. It turned out ok. Not great, ok.
