Bernie, I was just at a Radio Shack store that had some of this type of equipment. The store was closing and it was being marked down.....
Not sure what your exact requirements are, but maybe their items will fit the application?

Bernie, just read the thread on the Leisure hours forum that you guys got the FM tramsmitter handled. Any idea's when you guys will be ready for some outdoor action ?
Thanks.

So is this what the pit guys and drivers need?
Bernie's earlier post said there would still be a PA system.

Thank God you plan on both! The headsets only at Nitrofarm suck big time! As a racer you lose that sense of connectedness with your vehicle and as a marshall you have no idea what's going on. And let's not talk about how the headsets and radios get in the way of properly marshalling-if I can't hear your motor whine I may not marshall you!
It seriously detracts from the racing experience by only having the FM headphones. However, by having both one could listen to what's going on at a reasonable volume while in the pits without blasting the tracks' neighbors. Good call IMO.

One other problem I see with drivers wearing headsets, is...How are they supposed to hear "STRAIGHT-A-WAY"!!!!, if their ears are covered?
Or, "get out of my way" before I throw you off this drivers stand! LOL

That is one of the problems, espsecially with a headphones like that. Of course, this is not as much of a problem when you have an experienced announcer like John that also keeps an eye out for danger and announces it. The other problem is hearing your pit guy call you in. The cheaper walkman-type headphones that Nitrofarm uses are good because its a little easier to wear one on your ear, and the other off. There was even a couple of times when the announcer would hear a pit guy calling his driver in and announce it.

I guess we can't make everyone happy no how.

Big muff style headphones shouldnt be needed. I think those little ones that you get with modern day walkmans will work fine. You can always leave one ear peice out.
Beavis, he said big muff.

Bernie, hopefully you weren't taking my comments the wrong way. I know you can't please everyone all the time. I was just throwing out a a few ideas as to what I have seen with that type of system, so that it can be taken one step further, keeping LH the premier facility that it is. It is a great idea having that, and I was even kicking around ideas with Lyday at the Cure race.
Glad to hear your feeling better.

Hi jack. No I didn't take it the wrong way just my way of getting back in the swing of things. I don't think we could come up with a good P.A. for outside so everyone can hear. so a FM would make it so you could have a radio in your pit or a headset if you like. so no reason not to be able to hear.
