And I know I could always shop right at Palace Billiards (where I usually play) but I am thinking it will be a bit more pricey..... I am thinking I can get a decent entry level cue near $125 or so.
Any love for the MBX4??

Cue and Cushion in Woodridge.
Owen's Games on 75th near Lemont Road, across from Zigfield Troy Golf Course. Siebert's Billiard online (in Michigan) eBay!!!! I would budget $100 to start. Cheapest Viking in their showroom near Madison, WI is around $160 and it's pretty plain. A nice Sneaky Pete will run you $250-$300, but you can't tell it isn't a house cue. I have a fairly simple Lucasi LD1, which I love. For a few bucks less, Players makes decent cue. If I hadn't gotten into RC, a Schon, Joss, Predator, or Meucci were all cues I lusted after. About $500 to get in.

That is roughly what I was thinking price-wise. I have seen Viking and Cuetec cues for right around $120 on sale a few times at palace. They have some nice entry level cues and you get to play them right away. They are real good too. My buddy bought a cheap $100 cue (cheap relative to what they sell there) and it had the tiniest amount of a curve to it and they took it back no questions assked, after a game or two. Seem pretty straight up. When I get my liscense I will look around some more.
