Thats too bad about that gas and you guys couldnt make it
It was a good time even though it was just two of us on the track. Mine was running pretty good, I just need to figure out why its shifting so early. I think I need some sway bars too. I put on the stock tires to try them out and it was slick....I mangaged to crack the front bumper on the body when I spun out half way down the straight-a-way when it hit second gear, not too happy about that because I know they are not cheap Oh well, you got to pay to play!

thats a comon thing, you have to change the shift point out of the box. im ticked about not making it out. i have been looking forward to this for a while.

I tried adjusting it, but the adjuster screw is already tighten in all the way... I always thought on most two speeds that you tighten the screw for a later shift point. Or is it not normal and I should be backing out the screw to make it shift later? I think maybe something else it wrong, or the SH .28 just has too much torque, I dont know....lol Maybe we should try to meet up again some time before the weather gets bad...

Eric, you said when your car hit second it spun out, wouldn't that mean you need to make the shift sooner so there is not as much torque involved?

It did that spin out when I put the stock tires on it, which are also a smaller diameter, they were not hooking up very good at all. I was doing all I could to keep the car going straight and when it hit second, it really broke loose and spun out LOL When I had the Switch 2.0 buggy tires on it, it was hooking up better and I could tell it was shifting pretty early, about half way through the rpm range. Then it would take second gear a while longer to build up the rpms again, not to mention I have the taller then stock second gear in it. It would be like a 1:1 car shifting at 3k vs 5k rpm if you know what I mean

thats not good lol. Power shifting at 5 grand is pretty hard so I can only imagine what your rc car looks like lol

Eric, Take out the center 2 spd. Unscrew and take out the setscrew, spring, and ball. Make sure the spring and ball still look decent. What you may be able to do is pick up a spring from another car's 2 speed setup that is comparable in size and put it in there, just try to get a new one with a longer or firmer spring. I think that might help...

Bill, see if Dominick's will reemburse you for the repair. This time of year, we get alot of water or heating oil in gas tanks. The customer usually bills the gas station where the tank was filled. If they have numerous complaints about it, they should'nt hesitate to pay for the repair.

they are paying for everything. car runs like a champ again.

Eracer76 Wrote:I tried adjusting it, but the adjuster screw is already tighten in all the way... Thats just the 2 speed. I had mine adjusted to the max and it still shifted way early. I've given my 2 speed several tries but I found several problems with the 2 speeds durability. the pin pressed into the spur gear that the 2 speed clutch hits to engage 2nd gets worn eventually it will actually wear through and you will loose 2nd gear. another problem is the bushings that center the 2nd gear on the shaft. They wear in an oblong shape due to the constant unbalanced state of the 2nd gear spur with the steel pin in there and the hard engagement of the 2 speed always on that one side. I believe this is why mine kept striping 2nd gear but not completely just around one edge. It would probably be fine if they would have 2 pins in there opposite corners of eachother. Then at least the gear would be balanced and the 2 speed clutch would have 2 pins to hit and not wear soo fast. I've put mine back to a plastic spur gear center diff for good now. I ran that setup for god knows how many gallons on my Landmax 2 and thus far put about 3/4 galon on it in once day on my GT with no failures.
