And just use NEW green and gold springs, 2 of each on the clutch.

Ponch -- how do you tell the NEW green from the OLD green springs? and whats the difference?
Czech --- for a newbie like me "more tuning options" from M2C (3 shoe weights, 2 materials, 7 clutch springs) can be confusing, not knowing exactly what works.
The KHZ setup was mentioned in this thread by Ponch and UE and I am all 4 going with what is known to work.
I"m looking to set-up the 8 for the inside track with new flywheel/shoes/springs/bearings since its all pretty well trashed.
Czech -- what would be a "good" setup from M2C for a newbie w/ .21VG/JP-3 combo?
Also, do M2C shoes/springs fit on the Losi FW or does the M2C FW need to be used?
The M2C site says "Most people like the soft lights Losi 8ight clutch shoes used with 2 gold and 2 silver springs"
I guess Losi style springs need to be used.
thx

the amount of slop that u can move the clutch bell up and down with the screw tightened, you should have b/w .4 and .5 mm play

rcrunr1, when I said new I was referring to their condition, not like a model change. Just pick up a package of "fresh" springs so you know they'll last the life of the shoes...

so when you buy new clutch shoes, do you buy new springs too right? Truggys shoes have about 3 gallons and are a little screwed up so should i get both?

wow think about that for a second your going to spend $22(or so) on new clutch shoes and use old worn out springs? That'd be real smart

LOL kind of like using a new filter after changing ur oil??
Ponch --Some manufacturers do make "running changes" to products and thats what I thought u were saying. Am getting new Avid bearings too, old ones pretty gritty even after cleaning/reoiling. They are pretty cheap as well.
thx

I think that meant to say...
Kind of like using your old, used oil after replacing the airfilter element....

I think he meant on 1/1 cars Gabe, you always should change the oil filter when you change the oil...

What is the largest capacity receiver battery that will fit in the 8ight's compartment??
My steering servo took a dump at the pizza party and I think I will get the ACE DS1015 or ACE DS1313 to replace it. I hear these things draw a lot if current. I am thinking about the one at the link below but not sure if it'll fit....
[BAL8RX2700] Ballistic Batteries 5 Cell Sanyo 2700mah AA NiMH RX pack JR Connector
And I don't wanna go Li-Po, which is another option.
What do all the other 8ight drivers use for a RX battery? Thanks for the help

That will fit. I ran that battery. Can't use as much foam around the battery as I would like to, but it will fit.
