1/5th scale gas cars.
#1
Just wondering what people were thinking about the growing interest with gas powered RC? With cars like the HPI baja 5b getting a lot of press and good sales, I can see it taking off in a big way. Rumor has it that they (HPI) are already working on a truck version (5T) but nothing confirmed yet. Duratrax (I hear) is also working on a 1/5 scale gas vehicle, but no major details as of yet. I don't think the racers will see such a big appeal due to their size, but for bashers this could be a really cool option. I think bashers will like the whole "gas it and go" for 30-45 minutes without having to worry about temps, adjusting needles and using good ol regular 87 octane at 2 bucks a gallon. The initial price may scare some away $950.00-$1000.00, but when you look at the cost of a good quality nitro car/truck and the price of fuel and glow plugs alone it doesn't seem so bad. Hmm, anyone want a mint LST2 for cheap.Big Grin

Too much for initial cost imo...I see where you're coming from though with how much we spend on 1/8 buggies.

I really want a 5b, after seeing one in person I really want one.

Sure, $1,000 is alot, but I already have spent $700 on my Truggy in the last 2 months, whats another $300 to have one?

Sure, its slower, but its no so slow as to be no fun.

I'm going for one, I figure it won't be long till I do an engine swap and some porting/polishing with a tuned pipe. I think they are badass.

Check out hpibajaforum.com. They have some really good info and videos of these monsters in action.
