my friend has a inferno truggy, and it will run find then about 5 minutes it will have a high idle and has to hold the brakes to keep it from moving. if he hits the gas it will die on him, then it will not start he has to blow airto the linefrom the header...what can this be?

Idle screw too far in, low speed too rich. Go 1/4 turn out on the idle until he doesn't have to hold on the brake for it to not move, but high enough that it doesn't die quickly. Then lean the low speed by 1/4 turn until when he hits the gas it takes off quickly, but still has good smoke.

first off what motor do you have??? not all motors run in there ponch, some like right under 300 and some just barely over 200.........secondly if its creeping forward but you hit the brakes and it dies, then the idle is too low, but your carb is at a bad angle, the carb should open and close freely, if so then adjust the carb till it fully closes when at neutral.......whats its doing is the carb is at a bad angle and it wont close all the way so that causes it to creep forward, but then you hit the brakes it puts pressure on the carb arm and closes it all the way, then it dies, which means your idle is too low

depends, was the linkage getting caught on the filter?? take the filter off, and open the throttle fully and let it return to neutral, does it close all the way?? hit the brakes, does the carb close further when the brake are applied?

this sounds like a clutch problem, except for the need for air in the line.
you should have your friend check his clutch

generally any motor will be ok in the 200-290F range but like Mike said, tune for power....Make sure it has a nice blue trail of smoke coming out of the pipe and make sure it doesn't cut in and out when you lay on the gas.
