I have a quick question, and didn't want to start a whole new thread. I'm currently running a center differential in my Revo with 100K oil in it. I believe my front and rear differentials still have the stock oil in them(I bought my Revo used so I don't know whether the previous owner change the oil in them or not). This set-up seems really "weird" to me. I mean, the front tires unload like crazy upon acceleration, and the rear just unload like they would normally. I am also not running the rear brake yet 'cuz' I still have a 2.5 chassis, but that is on my list of upgrades. My question is, what oils should I be running in the Front/Center/Rear differentials? Does 50/500/30 sound good? I just want to hear some of your opinions. Thanks.

30k front and 10k rear is good. bamf90, the center diff needs more than 100k, try 300k. The front tires unload like that because the center diff is too light.

i semi-liked it....but i ran the stock 100k and had diff unloading problems and took it out. i have yet to change the oil(putty lol) and then try it. that was also outdoors too.

So running 30/300/10 is good then, right Mr. Tune?

inferno st, with the center differential, it enables you to pull out of turns quicker because more power is distributed to the front wheels. I think I'm pretty close on that. I may be wrong though.

more power is distributed to both the wheels, it basically gives the tires that are slipping more power than the ones that arent if that makes sense. The thicker u go the more AWD effect you will get, u want to go as heavy as u can before it starts breaking traction in the rear upon acceleration but not too light as the front wheels will diff out on the straight.

it pretty much allows you to lay the power down without spinning out so easy.

Slayden runs 50-500-30 in his diffs....I would use what works for the pros.

I was marshalling your main last weekend inferno st and I noticed what you do that cause you to spin out all the time.
you don't set up and slow down for the turn. you try to go as fast as possible from corner to corner and worry about the turn once you get there.
To be fast you have to be smooth.
You need to slow down and prepare for the turn before you get there, not in the middle of the turn.

30/300/10

or

50/500/30

What do you guys think?

EDIT: Also, do you guys think I should be fine running without the rear brake, or does it really improve handling THAT MUCH that I really should run it?

well right now you dont have ANY rear brakes... most people like lots of them to slide through the corners

A rear brake will help your truck rotate through corners more. try 300 in the center and if u still get ur tires ballooning in front go up and if u dont have enough on power steering go from 30-50 no biggie

I really want to get a rear brake kit, but I'm not too fond of converting to a 3.3 chassis. I'm also scared of cutting my chassis to accommodate for the rear brake, as I know that I will screw something up. I will probably just run without the rear brake for now, but I still need to find which setup is the best:

30/300/10 or 50/500/30 ?

EDIT: Oh, and thanks Mike. I will try that out.

So you are saying to start with 30/300/10 right? Then go to 30/500/10 if the fronts still balloon. Then if I don't have enough on power steering I should step it up to 50/500/10?

Usually the way the track is setup at LH it seems that you should be almost able to do it without brakes and be pretty smooth. I'm sure that you can still be fast with front brakes only....

yea pretty much, thats a pretty big step up in oil but i dont know a ton about how revos react to setup changes. If its breaking loose really violently in the rear go up higher there too. i would pretty much go up by 5k or 10k each time for a buggy or truggy most of the time but like i said i dunno if that will make a difference on a revo

I really like the style of the 2.5. The 3.3 makes it look really long and disproportional. During this summer when I get some money I will probably convert to 3.3, or decide to sell my Revo off, and finally get into the Truggy scene. I really just don't like the look of the 3.3. Is it worth it to convert though?
