I did it!! LOL OMG It's way to dangerous to do. I used a Dish Network remote @ 9500 S. Kedzie Ave. In fact I did it twice because I thought the 1st time was a fluke. It's dangerous because there is no time between the change of light red to green or green to red, like right now. Theres no yellow or warning its going to change. Vehicles were skidding to stop because it changed so fast.

April fools joke there? Somehow i don't think this would work.
IR signals are lost fairly easy unless you have a powerful transmitter..
Also, In my area when a Ambulance is coming from another direction the lights flash through their normal sequence going from green to yellow, then red.

The emergency strobe units USED to be for sale on eBay but they have long since pulled them. BTW...it's been made ILLEGAL to even own a strobe from an emergency vehicle, let alone use it in your car.
Just wait your damn turn and calm down. You AREN'T that special, sorry.

i have a friend that is a indiana dot civil engineer. all you need is a strobe light that flashes at the correct frequency. i know rocco has seen the white flashing light that is on teh front of every emergency vehicle. next time an ambulance fire truck or cop car is coming towards you, look at the roof of teh car or on its light bar and you will see a white strobe flashing. that is what signals teh system to change the light, it also turns on teh big bulb on the traffic signal itself signafying that the sytem is engaged. i cant remember teh frequency right now but next time i talk to mike i will ask. also some systems are coded and can report to the local pd what vehicle has set off teh system by a certain flash sequence. and that folks is how it works

I thought each emergency vehicle had a transmitter in it.
My dad is on the village board for Shorewood, we recently got this system at a few lights, and I'm pretty sure they had to get transmitters for the trucks and squad cars.
Also, why do the lights change before the trucks are even out of the bays? (Station is about 200 feet from the light)
