Seen one, very fun. And surprisingly durable for what it is. They are lighter than the FG's though, just not as durable as a FG is. Also, they are decently quick for their size and weight as well.
If i were going 1/5th scale I'd rather go 1/5th scale on-road though.

It's official....you have the biggest buggy !
very nice. That air filter must take like a pint of sticky oil to treat it.

My favorite Baja 5b video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6X5_7tIFm...ed&search=

They look pretty fun. And they run on unleaded gas too, thats a plus, for me anyway, the oil for them is most likely where they get you with the gas.

Traxxas_Junkee Wrote:And they run on unleaded gas too, thats a plus, for me anyway FOR SURE !!! $2.75/gallon beats the snot out of $27/gallon! After 40 gallons, that thing pays for itself in fuel savings.

Yeah, but I wonder what kind of oil it takes? I'm sure you can just use a weedwacker type oil, but (you have to use HPI oil to not void the warrenty, just to kill the new guys)
Even if it is about $12 for oil plus the fuel it's better than $30.

HPI (prettysure) doesn't make the engine. If it works for a Poulan line trimmer, it will work in the buggy. Get it at the lawnmower supply place, or Ace hardware. There's nothing magical about it, and I seriuosly doubt HPI could prove or disprove what oil products are used by the consumer in the motor.

What is the RX battery pack like in that buggy? With a big gas tank and loads of run time, I'd want a big battery in there.
04-09-2007, 10:15 AM
Looks good! My Baja 5b should be here on Wednesday along with a small order of parts from DDM. I'm looking forward to 45 minutes of running per tank, and 3$ a gallon gas.:joy:

DDM receiver battery for the HPI Baja 5b. 6v, 4200mAh NiMH hump pack. Allows for more than double the drive time of the stock battery pack! Manufactured by Pro-Match Racing for DDM.

I've been saving for a while, and had a large amount, so I decided to splurge on the jato, then saw this a few weeks later, so I bought it too.
Now I'm starting to sell some stuff off
I got one from my wife for my birthday. I got it in Nov. Had some good weather and had a chance to run it. I had the stock muffler replaced with the Jet Pro (snail) muffler. I just replaced the stock tires with street tires on crome wheels, installed metel gears in steering servo,5B LED lights, air brushed a clear body, and had the spektrum system to go with my Futaba 3PK.
By the way this MONSTER screams!!!! |
