OFNA Buggy stalls
#1
I have an OFNA Ravager, and when I first got the truck in december it ran great and could idle for a whole tank if I let it. I havent even ran through a gallon of fuel yet so it cant be the motor. But now once warmed up it wont idle for more than 3 or 4 seconds. Can someone help me out? I cant figure out how to fix this problem.

Does it just die or does it load up with fuel and then die?

3-4 seconds, im assuming your LSN is pig rich and your idle isnt set too high. if your still breaking it in, jsut blip the throttle every couple seconds so it doesnt die. then after its broken in and you start tuning, the problem should go away.

He shouldn't be still breaking it in, he got it in december. Unless he's run 1 to 2 tanks per month max.

If it won't idle when warm but idles fine when cold then it could be that your piston and sleeve have worn out. Though unless you have been putting 1 gallon a week through it it should be fine.

It could be a air leak

It could be that your LSN is rich as suggested.

Your idle screw could be too low.

Also, check the condition of the exhaust oring gasket at the block to header, and if you have a 1pc pipe at the header to pipe coupler as well.

Your clutch shoes could be worn out as well.

Ok thanks, guys im going to try what you have suggested. Its not that the engine isnt broken in, I did that the first day i got it. The engine isnt worn either because I have put less than a gallon and a half through the motor. The engine does not load up and then die, its just a quick shutdown. Idle is set at factory, and I though you were not suppose to change the idle needle. Thanks again

after its broken in you have to tune the motor. like i stated above, im assuming your idle is set too low and your still pig rich. lean out the HSN in 1/8 turn incraments untill it you get optimum performance and still a nice trail of blue smoke. if the leaned HSN doesnt do anything, try leaning out the LSN in 1/8 turn incraments if necessary, and then set your idel after that.

i use those wideos to help tune. i know its not a buggy, but its basicly the same exact idea for all nitro motors.

ok, thanks. I think I got it. I still cant believe I have so much trouble tuning these nitro engines, Ive been in the sport for over 3 years.

good to hear you slmost got it. and dont worry about it, some people are born naterals in tuning nitro engines. i myself and not the very best. and the picco is the first motor i had to tune on my own. i guess with time comes experience and knowledge. whether it takes longer or not as long, youll get it to the point where you can do it with your eyes closed.

and remember, the sound of the engine give you the largest hints and tell you what it needs.
