Can anyone tell me about this radio...especially if it can be upgraded w/ a Spektrum? I can pick one up that is in perfect shape cheap, but is it woth getting. Keep in mind I mostly bash, I have multiple cars and eventually want to upgrade to either a synthized or DSM. I don't need top of the line but I hate buying things twice.

It's a discountinued model from Futaba. You might want to consider something newer.

The JR xs3 and xs3pro are very popular, as are the Spektrum radio systems. Nomadio systems are starting to get purchased as well.

If all you want is synth FM, the JR systems are very cost effective, and they can be upgraded to Spektrum modules. Just read the product info carefully and ask questions before you buy.

If all you do is bash, and don't need to worry about freq conflicts with other people, any multiple memory radio system should work for you. I have a Futaba system that uses crystals (2PL) and it's fine for what I use it for and it was $75 with 2 servos and rx. It's just AM and not synth. But it does have EPA, trims, etc..

Hope this helps. You'll hear more tomorrow when everyone gets back from the DD race in Elburn today.

Not sure I like the set up on the new Spektrum radio, but I'd like to hear some feedback before I make up my mind.

I can get the 3Pj for dirt cheap and according to Spektrum they can be upgraded. I was just wondering if is worth getting or would the M8 be a better base to build on.

I held the new spektrum radio at Leisure Hours today. Seems like it has all the functions I would need and with the spektrum in there seems it would be a good radio for me. I want one Smile
