Need some computer help...
#1
Ok guys i know very little about computers besides how to use them to log on to this site, talk sh!t and look at porn! LOL

Heres my problem...

Computer works fine except for two things... First and most annoying is my sound just up and quit... The volume is maxxed i can hear the speakers hissing but i get no sound on ANY website... It worked fine yesterday, but it seems as though foxfire did a self update of some sort as its slightly differnt and my history was wiped clean...(thats couldnt be the problem... Could it?)

2nd- I cant open pfd files ! If i do the computer goes too 100% usage and freezes up. Anything adobe and im screwed...

Is this the work of a virus? If so hook a brotha up with a good free virus killer!

I can help you with the sound thing, but not so sure on the PDF files. To get your sound back download a driver for your speakers. This is probably the one. http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SOUND-C...WHQL.shtml

If that doesn't work it might be a virus. You may actually have to restart your computer a couple times to see if it works. You may also want to check if your speakers are plugged into the computer.

If nothing works, try a virus scan. You can download AVG Free Edition right here. http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/

You can also try this. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

If nothing works, just post up here and I'll try to help some more.

Adobe crap: Go to your control panels and select Add or Remove Programs(start -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs). A window will pop up with a list of programs that are installed on your computer. You need to uninstall Adobe Reader. Then go to www.adobe.com and install the latest reader.

That should take care of your PDF issues.

Sound Crap: First of all, make sure you have a good connection on all your speakers and that no wires have been pulled loose from the speakers, or the computer itself. If thats all good then make sure that not only is the volume slider up, but that windows has not muted the source or master volume. You are interested in WAVE or MASTER settings in the Volume Control.

To OPEN volume control there are 3 options.
1. double click on the speaker icon in the system tray (lower right portion of screen next to the clock)
2. (Start Menu -> (All) Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment -> Volume Control)
3. Click the Start Menu and select Run... When the Run... box opens type sndvol32.exe into the Text box and click OK.

From there you will see a list of volume controls, (Master, Wave, CD, Line-in, etc....) Make sure that the Mute check boxes at the bottom of the Volume Control window are unchecked, and that the sliders are set to at least half volume.
......

If you still don't have volume you will need to reinstall the drivers for your sound card, these should have been provided with your windows install. If not, you will need to check with the computer/sound card manufacturer for new drivers.

right click my computer, click properties, Hardware, device manager. Is there anything there with a yellow question mark next to it. If so what is it? This will at least tell you if you have the drivers installed for your sound
