why don't we ban all cars that are older than 3 yrs old, they are polluting america...

this don't matter to me much, I quit last week, but if I hadn't I'd be pretty pissed about htis commie freakin' state adding another thing to their list of freedoms that I can't enjoy! This is bullshit...

but whatever.. if we keep these asshole politicians in office we'll eventually lose all of our freedoms! (they are slowly disappearing boys and girls)

Ya know what mike.... I will admit your an extremely BOOK smart kid... I have to say that all your A.P. classes have made you a real sharp individual at a young age BUT... but back to the subject, I can not understand banning all public smoking, that's shit! how about if we ban dipping, I personally think that dipping is right up there with giving oral sex to a donkey, pretty disgusting, if you'd stick that crap in your mouth, guess what that donkey would like to stick in your mouth. It's absolutely disgusting, the spit bottle, the shit hanging from your lip, the bulge in your lip, adn open your mouth and that crap is in there when you are talking to me.. yuk! granted, I guess there's not much of a health risk to me, unless of course I have to pick up your spittoon and maybe you have AIDS then I guess, well, you are spitting body fluids out and therefore it becomes an issue for me!

and public drinking should be added to this list of banned crap.. go to the bar and drink, you gotta get home, and that means driving, which is where my life being in danger comes into play.. I'd rather breathe some second hand smoke than have some impaired asshole take my life..

Mike, I'm not saying you are wrong, I'm saying there's more important stuff to be worrying about... drinking/drug problems, veterans without medical care (ever been to the Hines VA center? you won't go a second time) kids in the middle east dying because the politicians are war mongers.. this is trivial bullshit in my eyes, there are more important issues to deal with at least in my mind.

Where is the health risk for them? Most public buildings are already non smoking. Don't believe the hype that 3 huffs of second hand smoke will harm you in any way. You breath in far greater toxins walking down the street from cars passing by than from the guy smoking outside the door to the place you plan on walking into.

The politians are simply trying to control your freedoms and are using the harm your health as a cheap excuse to get what they want.

I guess I see this as the politicians' way of doing something.. they are taking on the menial bs and making laws while avoiding the harder issues (mentioned above) but at least this way the public sees our elected officials doing something and is passified (not sure on that spelling) rather than taking the hard issues and working them. They are simply going for quantity over quality in my mind...

the only place I can even think of that would be hazardess to your health would be a smokers house because you will be constantly bombarded with smoke to the point that you might as well light one up yourself. Every else it's so easy to avoid it shouldn't even part of this disscussion.

The smoking bans that Orland park and other towns around it have hurt the bars there way more then they expected. During the super bowl,they begged the mayor to lift the ban because their turnout has been so low. While other places in the north and northwest burbs saw no change or things got better. People know right away if smoking is allowed or not and so THEY have the CHOICE to dine or drink there or if they will go somewhere else. So why they decide to bitch about it,I have no clue.

Second hand smoke is not that big of an issue with cancer as many want you to believe. Way more people die from smoking then second hand smoke. I will bet that more people die from snake or spider bites then from cancer caused by second hand smoke. And as tune said. Depending on where you live or visit. Chances are you will breath in air that is far worse then breathing in second hand smoke.

Our law makers in all their wisdom have decided to do this state wide ban. Then also pass a measure to raise the state tax on smokes by $.75. Bringing the total tax just under $2 per pack. So lets ban it everywhere,yet raise the taxes on it. Chicago has done the same thing and I know they are not seeing the numbers they expected to see.

I just fear what will be taxed next once the taxes from smokes dont show up like they expected.

So is drinking the booze in the bar too! What's the difference? Your liver will heal, just as your lungs will. One night at a bar won't do any permanent damage whatsoever. Everywere else, rest assured, you'll have no issues avoiding smoke. Wait until your 21...

You should see the amount of smokers in a bar! Usually they out number the non smokers.

You need to start changing the channel when those 'truth' commercials come on...
