No outdoor offroad so that the onroad guys can run (track gets dusty and then it sucks for them)
Leisure indoor is large enough that they draw 100+ crowds every weekend during the winter.

I was wondering the same thing. Was it damaged by all the recent flooding???

Outdoor track got kinda washed out, some jumps esp. coming off the backstraight deteriorated pretty badly.
But I haven't been there in about a month so idk how it is now.

track was perfect yesterday. Jumps were perfect w/ the lips and stuff, no ruts anywhere, but the lights werent on so we had to go outdoor until it got dark then indoor.

Inside is 125 X65 we can only use one outside track because we don't have lights to run both outside tracks at once. onroad was picked.

No outdoor off road because Bernie cant run both outdoor off road and outdoor on road at the same time due to the lighting situation. So we opted to have on and off road together and that means indoor off road only. Geeeze that looks a lot more confusing than it sounded in my head.

off road cars are not allowed on the on-road track...
If you have an off-road truck/car then you will have to run indoor on the indoor dirt track.
If you have an on-road car then you can run outside on the on-road track.
Does that makes sense to anyone who has questions?

Hmm...maybe now might be a good time to send racing indoor for the offroad guys and start a major rebuild on the outdoor track??
It did get a late start this year, and with all the weather abuse it has taken along with the lower turnout. Maybe a major change is needed?
I dont mind going indoor so early if the reason is good.

That's what Bernie is doing. I think he said the week after next (so 8 days from now) it will be indoor. Said he is changing the layout indoor on the 1st and 2nd if I remember right, and then he's focusing on getting the outdoor track into shape for next year. A thick layer of new, different clay with mulch mixed in, and signifigantly less rocks in it will be put over the entire track.

I hate to join the other side. But honestly,I think something that would help the track is if the whole hill thing was taken out. Get the track somewhat level or just above level.

i dunno, I think the elevation change is what makes it soo neat, when my neighbor came to watch me race, (he races furmula fst cars) he said that was the coolest thing about the track. i think part of the reason people dont like the elevation change is becasue it is harder to drive on, you need better depth perseption and so on. possibly some kind of drainage system should be put in, so that when it does rain hard, it doesnt all rush to the front striaght and run the whole track.

Ok but how practical is a drainage system?
Bernie has been trying to dig moats as I see them....Well they pretty much lead to places you can't get to...That are all muddy....And now somebody's stuck there and you gotta go sloshing over there thru the mud to get them...
idk I think that is a problem though, the whole depth perception thing.
Especially with how large the track is. It's just another factor to mess with your brain, because now instead of just jumping straight, you gotta jump straight but down at the same time and...ok so I can't explain it all that well, but I think you guys get what I mean...
oh and this just popped into my head, and i know its been said a billion times, but visability on the backstraight is still iffy, can't see my shit if it gets too close to the tube. don't know how to solve this though as the tube is buried along the straight, except for leveling some.
Maybe do something crazy like a huge ass jump...10x's the size of the large double we have now.
got to have something noticeable that is out of the ordinary that will bring people in. Sure, we all do enjoy the indoor pits and ac/heat. that is a HUGE plus over other tracks, along with the on site hobby shop...
Flat(ter) track would solve this. Instead of running off, the water would sit and soak in. Leading to more traction, and less dust.
I did the math, and the track would lose a little bit of width if it was leveled out...not even a whole lane though...
Marshalling would be easier, no need to go 10 ft forward and 10 feet up to marshall somebody, you would just have to go forward...
idk though...this is just the track in my head...NONE of this is meant as a diss to lhr or the crew...just thinking out loud and saying what's on my mind.
But another thing....Pay attention to attendence once we go indoor, but it is still warm enough that other outdoor tracks are open. See if it goes up. And if it does, start to wonder why. And if it does down...well start to wonder why. But just remember that it's the indoor track that year after year will bring 80+ people in on any given club race weekend.
Maybe someone such as mike or bernie would post up a poll if they felt it necessary with the options like "should we keep the elevation oudoor" or "should we level outdoor"....
I will say tho, outdoor track is better than a few weeks ago. Not nearly as many bad spots, you can tell bernie has been out there working on the jumps and stuff since that big rain.
commentary over. ponch is out and going to bed.

kevin yes the elevation ads a level of difficulty thats all fne and dandy, but it plays hell on tryin to maintain the track. Theres nothing wrong with elevation changes, but look how Dirtburners does it. Put that track on flat ground with some hills and elevation changes and you will not have a single blind spot due to the height of the drivers stand. The dirt will all stay put you wont have to worry about it all getting washed away. It will be much easier to change layouts. And as much as bruce loves the grass its not necessary. The track on the hill is a cool idea but its not practical and its hurting the quality of the track surface imo. Believe me tracks can still be very difficult flat
